Prof. Dr Abraham Karickam

Prof. Dr. Abraham Karickam served for 28 years at Mar Thoma College, Tiruvalla (affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala), first as a faculty member in the English Department and later as Principal. He holds dual Ph.D. degrees, one in English and the other in Inter-Religious Studies. He is a graduate of the Bossey Ecumenical Institute (Geneva University) and has pursued Peace Studies at Eastern Mennonite University, USA. With over 35 years in interfaith dialogue, he has travelled extensively, coordinated the South India Zone of the United Religions Initiative (URI), and served as Secretary General of URI Asia for 12 years.

The founder of ‘One Billion Youth for Peace’ initiative and ‘Karickam International Public School,’ he has authored 18 books and convenes the International Conferences on Holy Books, most recently in Mannheim (2024). A regular contributor to global interfaith forums, including the Parliament of the World’s Religions, he represented the Mar Thoma Church and URI at three World Council of Churches Assemblies and remains a close associate of the Taizé Community.
