Reimagining Leadership Through Empathy: The Journey of a CMS Alumna
“To the ones who find it difficult to go though,
I know, it’s not easy but trust me not impossible too.
To the ones who want to make a difference,
Keep going and believe in the power of reverence.
And to the ones who are chasing their dreams,
don’t you get stagnant for you can cross all the seams.”
– Excerpts from ‘The Agony of the Truthful Sights’, authored by Ms Akshara Tathagat, Alumna – CMS Aliganj Campus I
Standing at the threshold of an exciting new chapter as I prepare to pursue a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering at VIT Bhopal, I find myself reflecting with profound gratitude on the foundation laid during my years at CMS Aliganj Campus I. While stepping into the ever-evolving world of technology marks an important milestone, every opportunity I embrace today has its roots in the values, guidance, and encouragement I received at my alma mater. CMS nurtured far more than academic excellence.
My school years gave me the freedom to discover my voice as a writer, leading to the publication of my first poetry collection, The Agony of the Truthful Sights. More importantly, it instilled in me the confidence to think critically, express myself meaningfully, and uphold values that extend far beyond the classroom.
Among the many unforgettable experiences that shaped my school journey, participating in the 11th International Interfaith Conference stands out as one of the most enriching and transformative. Surrounded by distinguished leaders, scholars, and visionaries from across the world, I witnessed how dialogue rooted in respect and understanding has the power to bridge cultures, faiths, and perspectives. Engaging with eminent speakers on themes such as universal brotherhood, gender equality, education, and humanity profoundly broadened my worldview and deepened my appreciation for the role of empathy in leadership.

One of the greatest privileges of my school life was moderating a panel discussion featuring renowned personalities, including Prof. Geeta Gandhi Kingdon, Managing Director of City Montessori School, and Dr David Risley from the United States. Facilitating a conversation on empathy, cultural diversity, and shared human values was an honour that strengthened my belief in the importance of meaningful dialogue. Equally inspiring was attending the inaugural session and listening to the insightful address of Hon’ble Dr Dr (h.c.) Adel Omar Sherif from Egypt, whose words left a deep impression on my understanding of peace, justice, and global citizenship. The conference was far more than an academic event; it became a defining lesson in humanity, teaching me that genuine leadership begins with the humility to listen, learn, and understand.
As I embark on my journey into the world of computer science, innovation, and emerging technologies, I carry these invaluable lessons with me. I firmly believe that while technology has the power to transform the future, it is compassion, ethics, and human understanding that provide innovation its true purpose. CMS has not only prepared me to pursue a successful professional career but has also inspired me to become a responsible, empathetic, and globally conscious individual committed to creating a positive impact.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to my CMS family, especially Ms Khyati Lamba (Event Convenor) and the entire team at CMS Rajajipuram Campus II, the host campus, for their unwavering guidance, encouragement, and constant support throughout the 11th International Interfaith Conference. Their mentorship made this extraordinary experience both meaningful and unforgettable.
