Maulana Mohammed Mirza Yasoob Abbas is a prominent Shia Islamic scholar, cleric, and General Secretary cum spokesperson of the All India Shia Personal Law Board (AISPLB), Lucknow.

Born on 21 March 1970, he was educated at Shia College, Lucknow, where he also served in a leadership role. As a key voice for the Shia community, a minority within a minority, he has spearheaded initiatives advocating for socio-economic upliftment, protection of Waqf properties, and preservation of Shia heritage.

His notable achievements include welcoming the Supreme Court’s ban on instant triple talaq as a victory for Muslim women’s rights, aligning with Quranic principles and pushing a model nikahnama that strengthens women’s position in marriage and divorce. He has consistently championed communal harmony, anti-lynching laws, hijab rights in education, and inter-community dialogue, while criticising practices that disturb India’s Ganga-Jamuni culture.

His reformist yet faith-rooted advocacy for women’s dignity within Islamic tradition, combined with his commitment to justice, peace, and minority rights, offers valuable insights for bridging religious perspectives and advancing gender equality globally through dialogue and ethical reform.
