City Montessori School, Lucknow, was awarded the UNESCO Prize for Peace Education in 2002, in recognition of its efforts to promote the universal values of education for peace and tolerance, at a time when such values were increasingly being challenged.

Guinness World Record

OUR PHILOSOPHY
Founded in 1959 with just five children and a borrowed capital of ₹300 by Dr Jagdish Gandhi and Dr Bharti Gandhi, City Montessori School (CMS) began with the vision of inspiring generations of children to become socially motivated and conscious citizens of the world.<
Inspired by the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and Sant Vinoba Bhave, the school embraced the spirit of peace and global unity through the motto “Jai Jagat” (Hail the World), in contrast to the post-Independence greeting “Jai Hind” (Hail India).
At CMS, we believe that 21st-century education must be ‘broader’ and ‘bolder’. It must nurture a ‘good human being’ with values and a broad range of capabilities. Therefore, CMS education recognises the three fundamental realities of human life—Material, Human, and Divine. It is built upon four building blocks: Universal Values, Global Understanding, Service to the World, and Excellence in All Things.
