About our
COMMUNITY RADIO

City Montessori School (CMS) Community Radio Channel was launched at Gomti Nagar campus I on July 1, 2005, broadcasting at 90.4 MHz. This initiative was inaugurated by Shri Arjun Singh, then Union Minister for Human Resources and Development. The same year, another CMS Community Radio Station at the Kanpur Road branch was inaugurated by Shri Jaipal Reddy, the then Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting, during a grand ceremony attended by high-profile dignitaries. CMS Community Radio was established with the primary goal of providing education to the masses.
Radio, as a medium, is highly effective and accessible, catering to both the affluent and the underprivileged, covering extensive areas at a minimal cost within a short period. This makes community radio particularly beneficial for economically disadvantaged children who might not afford traditional schooling. Through CMS Community Radio Station (CRS), both urban and rural communities gain significant educational benefits.
Since March 2008, the CMS-CRS team has been engaging with communities around Lucknow to produce and broadcast educational and community-based programs. Our goal has been to encourage local volunteers to take ownership of these projects. While we initially faced challenges, such as overcoming women's fear of the microphone and addressing misconceptions about the commercial use of recorded folk songs, we gradually built trust.
Through persistent effort, we motivated 20 community volunteers from villages like Makhdoompur, Nizampur Malhapur, Shekh-Sarai, and others to actively participate in these initiatives.
