In a world rich with diversity – of cultures, beliefs, languages and traditions – we find ourselves at a paradoxical crossroads. Even as technology collapses distances and global challenges call for shared solutions, many nations and communities are retreating into narrow spheres of identity, driven by isolationist ideologies and the rhetoric of self-interest. The cry to “make only one’s own country great again” echoes across borders, often at the expense of empathy, cooperation and understanding. Intolerance towards differing worldviews and beliefs is no longer an isolated occurrence but a global concern, threatening the very fabric of peaceful co-existence. In this fragile context, interfaith harmony becomes not just desirable – but essential.
Achieving harmony in multi-religious societies requires concerted efforts to bridge gaps, address stereotypes, and confront identity-driven divisions. The ancient Indian tradition of Vasudhaiv Kutumbkam (the whole earth is one family) is the light that shows the way. The theme for this year’s 10th International Interfaith Conference, “Together in Faith, to Shape a Better World,” focuses on the power of unity across faiths to address global challenges. It seeks to create a shared vision for peace and prosperity by emphasizing interfaith dialogue as a transformative tool for fostering acceptance, coexistence, and mutual respect. Faith traditions are repositories of wisdom that guide individuals and communities to ethical action, and when aligned, they can inspire a collective responsibility to combat issues like poverty, injustice, and environmental degradation.
This conference will serve as a platform to explore key dimensions of interfaith engagement: faith-based approaches to climate action and global crises, the role of youth as change agents in faith dialogues, and faiths empowering women in leadership. Through panel discussions, workshops, and keynote addresses, the event aims to uncover innovative solutions grounded in shared moral values and ethical principles. By coming together in faith, participants will be encouraged to transcend religious boundaries, moving from tolerance to active collaboration. This conference calls upon religious leaders, educators, youth, and policymakers to take bold steps toward a better world, grounded in unity, understanding, and compassion.
