CMS Winners of the Ram Ugrah Memorial Cartoon Contest 2026 Felicitated for their Creative Strokes
A sharp line, a thoughtful idea and a touch of humour can sometimes say what a thousand words cannot. Taking this thought forward, City Montessori School, Lucknow, organised the Ram Ugrah Memorial Cartoon Contest 2026. Held in collaboration with our alumnus, Mr Prakash Gupta, IFS (Batch 1996, CMS Station Road Campus), the art competition invited CMS students to explore the world around them through the art of cartooning. Moreover, the initiative represents Mr Gupta’s heartfelt effort to honour and carry forward the legacy of his father, late Shri Ram Ugrah Ji, whose insightful cartoons captured the nuances of society and public life with wit and creativity.
The event also aimed to nurture the artistic talents of young learners. At the same time, it encouraged them to observe contemporary issues, understand the interplay between society and politics, and creatively express their perspectives.

Carrying Forward a Legacy
Late Shri Ram Ugrah Ji spent decades transforming complex political and social realities into powerful single-panel cartoons. Through his work, he demonstrated how humour could encourage reflection and how a few carefully drawn lines could spark larger conversations.
Today, the Ram Ugrah Memorial Cartoon Contest continues this legacy by giving young artists a platform to observe, think, question and express themselves. Through this initiative, City Montessori School hopes to inspire a new generation of young cartoonists to find their own voices and use creativity to understand and engage with the world around them.
