Position Overview
- The Physics Lab Assistant supports the physics teacher and students by preparing and maintaining the laboratory environment, setting up experiments, and ensuring the safety and organization of the lab.
- They help with equipment management, safety protocols, and assist students during hands-on learning activities.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Prepare and organize the necessary materials, tools, and equipment for physics experiments and demonstrations.
- Help students and teachers during practical lessons by explaining how to use equipment, conducting experiments, and troubleshooting issues with lab activities.
- Ensure that all students follow proper safety protocols when conducting experiments, including handling equipment and materials responsibly. Ensure that safety equipment (e.g., goggles, gloves) is available and used correctly.
- Clean, repair, and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring everything is in working order for lessons and experiments.
- Monitor and keep track of lab supplies, such as equipment, chemicals, and consumables. Alert teachers to reorder supplies when necessary.
- After experiments or lessons, clean all equipment and surfaces, ensuring the lab remains neat, organized, and ready for future use.
- Support teachers during demonstrations or practical activities by setting up equipment, monitoring safety, and assisting with data collection.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory, equipment condition, and any maintenance performed on lab tools.
- Ensure that any necessary materials for upcoming lessons (e.g., wiring, projectiles, or other physics-related materials) are ready and available.
- Help students with understanding basic physics principles during lab sessions, explaining equipment and guiding them through experiments as needed.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in using and maintaining physics lab equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, voltage meters, thermometers).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to help guide and explain lab procedures to students.
- Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Ability to troubleshoot minor issues with equipment and experiments.
- Friendly, approachable attitude when working with students.
Experience
- Previous experience or coursework in a laboratory setting is a plus.
- Ability to work well with students and staff in a school environment.
- Preferred 2-3 years of experience
- Freshers can apply.
Qualification
- B.SC or M.SC in Physics.
