Position Overview
Construction is a major vertical at CMS, with multiple large projects always going on simultaneously. The position shall be responsible for supervising the work of Civil & Structure discipline at project sites. The incumbent shall be responsible for the efficient and effective coordination of site supervision and team of junior engineers for construction activities relating to Civil & Structural work, for dealing with the contractors, for finalizing and authorizing the requirements of materials as per suitable norms, and for meticulous reporting to the Management.
Roles and Responsibility
- Well-versed in drawing interpretations & in guiding technicians to work as per drawings.
- Interpreting Technical Specifications & ensuring work at site as per approved Technical specifications.
- Prepare billing, and MB costing & estimation of building construction Projects.
- Should be aware about best/long standing market products available for civil construction.
- Prepare item wise BOQ of civil work & certifying Contractors Bill accordingly.
- Knowledge about relevant IS or other codes for civil works & should ensure work as per approved Codes, Specifications & amp; Standard Construction Practices.
- Awareness of Local Government Rules and Regulations for civil works & should implement those regulations at site in time.
- Basic knowledge of AUTOCAD and shall supervise the projects from designing stage to the execution stage.
- Ensure that hazards are identified, risks assessed, control measures planned and implemented in consultation with relevant employees.
- Regularly conduct Health & Safety Executive (HSE) meetings, toolbox talks, and daily jobsite walks.
Key Responsibility
- Reading and Interpreting Drawings: Study and understand architectural and structural drawings, ensuring comprehension of project requirements, specifications, and dimensions.
- Project Execution: Assist in the efficient execution of construction projects, including building renovations, repairs, expansions, and new constructions, while adhering to safety standards and timelines.
- Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, considering materials, labor, equipment, and other expenses, in alignment with the school’s budgetary constraints.
- Measurement Books: Maintain accurate and comprehensive Measurement Books, recording daily measurements, work progress, materials utilized, and labor deployed for billing and project tracking purposes.
- Quality Control: Implement strict quality control measures throughout the construction process to ensure that the work is carried out to the highest standards and complies with relevant Indian building codes.
- Contractor Supervision: Supervise the activities of various contractors, including building contractors, tiling contractors, painting contractors, waterproofing contractors, electrical contractors, plumbing contractors, and fire contractors.
- Compliance with Building Standards: Ensure that all construction activities comply with the relevant Indian building standard codes, local regulations, and safety guidelines.
- Problem Solving: Address and resolve construction-related issues promptly, collaborating with senior engineers and project managers as needed.
- Material Management: Monitor the usage of construction materials, maintain an inventory, and ensure efficient utilization to minimize wastage and optimize costs.
- Progress Reporting: Provide regular updates to senior engineering staff and project managers regarding project progress, challenges, and achievements.
- Safety and Environment: Promote and maintain a safe working environment, encouraging adherence to safety protocols and guidelines on the construction site.
- Learning and Development: Stay up-to-date with the latest construction practices, codes, and technologies in the civil engineering domain, continuously improving your skills and knowledge.
Requirements SkillsĀ

- Prior experience with construction projects or internships will be an advantage.
Qualifications
B.E./ B. Tech in Civil having first division from reputed Technical Institute.
