Eminent International Economist and Executive Director of the Global Governance Forum

Honourable Dr Augusto Lopez-Claros is an eminent international economist and Executive Director of the Global Governance Forum, where he currently leads the drafting of the proposed second United Nations Charter. With over three decades of experience in global institutions, he has held senior positions at the World Bank as Director of the Global Indicators Group and at the World Economic Forum as Chief Economist and Director of the Global Competitiveness Programme. A graduate of Cambridge University and Duke University (PhD in Economics), Dr Lopez-Claros has authored influential works on international cooperation, including Global Governance and the Emergence of Global Institutions for the 21st Century (Cambridge University Press, 2020). His thought leadership in governance reform and institutional innovation continues to inform policy dialogues worldwide.
