ABOUT US
Education is a shared responsibility of the three pillars of humanity—home, school, and community.
Together, these pillars must strive to inspire every child to be both good and smart, prioritizing character before intellect.
City Montessori School (CMS) is a renowned co-educational K-12 day school, operating across 21 campuses in Lucknow, the capital city of Uttar Pradesh, India. Founded in 1959 by visionary educators Late Dr. Jagdish and Dr. (Mrs.)Bharti Gandhi, CMS is driven by the motto Jai Jagat (Hail the World), inspired by the ancient wisdom of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (The world is one family). The school’s ethos is deeply rooted in the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi and social reformer Sant Vinoba Bhave, with Jai Jagat serving as its greeting since inception.
Curriculum Offered
Of the 21 campuses, 18 offer education up to Class 12, while four campuses cater to students up to Grade 8, recognized by the Basic Education Department of the Government of Uttar Pradesh.
CMS is celebrated for its academic rigor, consistently producing high-achieving students. Notably, four CMS campuses rank among the top 10 schools in India for graduating the largest cohorts of ISC Class 12 students, with an impressive aggregate of 90% or above.
Everywhere people are looking for good education, but the question most pertinent is, “What is a good education?”
A good education goes beyond academic achievement; it shapes individuals into well-rounded human beings who contribute positively at every level of society. It nurtures:
- > a good human being
- > a good member of a family
- > a good member of a community
- > a good citizen of a country
- > a good citizen of the world
Education is a shared responsibility of the three pillars of humanity—home, school, and community. Together, these pillars must strive to inspire every child to be both good and smart, prioritizing character before intellect.
Meeting the Needs of the Modern World
EDUCATION FOR TODAY
Relevance of Education Today
In today’s fast-paced world, education must align with the demands of the age. It should not only impart knowledge but also act as a powerful tool for profound social transformation.
Aim of Modern Education
Education is a continuous, creative process aimed at unlocking the latent capacities within human nature. It should coordinate these capabilities to enrich society, equipping children with material, human, and divine knowledge for holistic development.
True Education for Today
True education goes beyond the classroom. It releases inherent abilities, develops analytical skills, builds self-confidence, strengthens willpower, and fosters goal-setting competencies. It instills a vision that empowers individuals to become self-motivated agents of social change, working in the best interest of the community.
Expanding the Definition of Education
Education today needs a broader definition—one that transcends its current economic context and recognizes its role in transforming both individual lives and society as a whole.
Service to God and Humanity
Among the greatest services a person can render to God and humanity is the education of children. Building their character and nurturing the love of God in their hearts is a divine responsibility.
Encouragement
A Key to Effective Education
Teachers: Must foster a climate of encouragement in the classroom through positive behavior patterns.
Parents: Should create an environment of encouragement at home, modeling behaviors that uplift and inspire.
The Social Responsibility of Schools
Uniting the World through Education:
A Vision for Global Unity
The greatest challenge of the modern age is disunity. The social responsibility of today’s schools is to bridge this divide, uniting a fragmented world. Education should aim to make every child a gift to humanity, a pride of the human race, and a potential light to the world. This is achieved by imparting a well-rounded education that encompasses material, human, and divine knowledge.
Developing Total Quality Individuals
Modern schools bear the responsibility of developing human resources for the unity of mankind. The goal is to shape students into Total Quality Persons and Total Quality Managers. This means nurturing individuals who are not only high academic achievers but also wise, talented, balanced, law-abiding, and just.
