Prof. Geeta Gandhi Kingdon, Manager, CMS, at the AI for Learning Forum, India

City Montessori School (CMS) continues to shape the national conversation about the responsible use of artificial intelligence in education through research-led practice and classroom-based evidence. This approach was articulated by Prof. Geeta Gandhi Kingdon, Manager, CMS, at the AI for Learning Forum, India, held in New Delhi and organised by Google India under the India AI Impact Summit 2026.

She shared insights from a randomised controlled study conducted by Google DeepMind in collaboration with Fab AI at City Montessori School, Lucknow, which examined the impact of Gemini Guided Learning AI tutors on student learning outcomes. The study was presented as a model for how rigorous evidence should inform decisions related to the adoption and scale of emerging technologies in education.

“At CMS, technology is never the starting point; learning outcomes are,” said Prof. Geeta Gandhi Kingdon“Our work with AI tutors shows that when tools are used responsibly, they can help students develop conceptual clarity, make connections across subjects, and apply learning to real-world contexts. That is where technology adds value—by strengthening thinking, not replacing it.”

CMS’s pedagogical approach aligns closely with the National Education Policy 2020 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, with a sustained emphasis on project-based and experiential learning. By anchoring innovation in research, teacher empowerment, ethical safeguards, and preparedness, CMS continues to demonstrate that lasting transformation in education comes from disciplined implementation rather than rapid adoption.

Speaking at the forum, Prof. Kingdon emphasised that artificial intelligence, when integrated thoughtfully and guided by evidence, can support holistic student development. Addressing policymakers, educators, and technology leaders, she underlined that AI has the potential not only to strengthen academic outcomes but also to foster critical thinking, creativity, and global outlooks among students.

The forum was attended by senior representatives from Google, DeepMind, and Fab AI; officials from the Ministry of Education; education leaders; non-profit organisations; and members of the media. Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education, Government of India, was the Chief Guest.

CMS participated under the leadership of Prof. Kingdon, along with Mrs Sushama Rajkumar, Dean, Cambridge Section, CMS, and Mr Abhishek Sharma, Mathematics Educator, CMS Rajajipuram Campus I. Speaking on the theme “Beyond Adoption: An Evidence-Based Approach towards Gemini for Teaching and Learning”, Prof. Kingdon highlighted CMS’s long-standing commitment to innovation grounded in research and classroom realities.
