CMS Celebrates Academic Excellence at the Meritorious Students’ Felicitation Function 2026

City Montessori School (CMS) celebrated the outstanding results of the ICSE (Class X) Comparative Examination 2026, Advanced Placement (AP) examination and the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) at a grand Meritorious Students’ Felicitation Function 2026, held on 29th July 2026. Organised on the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima, the valedictory ceremony took place at the auditorium of CMS Gomti Nagar Extension Campus, bringing together students, parents, teachers and school leaders to celebrate academic excellence, perseverance and the transformative power of education.

The prestigious ceremony was graced by Shri Sunil Kumar Sharma Ji, the Hon’ble Cabinet Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Government of Uttar Pradesh, as the Chief Guest. A visionary leader with extensive experience in public service and governance, Shri Sharma has played a pivotal role in accelerating Uttar Pradesh’s digital transformation and strengthening its position as one of India’s leading hubs for electronics manufacturing and technological innovation. His emphasis on digital literacy, artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship and emerging technologies resonated deeply with the audience, especially students, who were inspired to embrace technology and innovation while contributing meaningfully to society.

Following the ceremonial lighting of the Lamp of Learning, Shri Sharma addressed the gathering and felicitated the meritorious CMS students. Congratulating the young achievers, he remarked that the recognition earned during one’s student life is no less significant than receiving a Padma Shri, as such honours inspire students to pursue excellence throughout their lives. Appreciating the invaluable contribution of City Montessori School towards education, he observed that the institution has built a glorious legacy of nurturing generations of outstanding individuals, including astronaut Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, whose achievements have brought immense pride to Uttar Pradesh and the nation. Extending his Guru Purnima wishes to the CMS teachers, Shri Sharma encouraged the students to remain humble in success, continue learning with dedication and strive for excellence in every sphere of life.
An Inspiring Beginning to the Celebration

The celebrations commenced with a Character-Building March. It was followed by the School Prayer, Vande Mataram, and the All-Religion Prayer, reflecting CMS’s unwavering commitment to universal values and peaceful coexistence.

Adding a deeply emotional touch to the celebration, CMS students paid heartfelt tribute to their teachers through vibrant educational and cultural performances, expressing their gratitude for the guidance, encouragement and values that have shaped their academic journeys.
Excellence Honoured on Stage

The highlight of the ceremony was the felicitation of Soumya Sodhi of CMS Gomti Nagar Campus I, who emerged as the ‘Overall Topper’ of the Inter-Campus ICSE Comparative Examination 2026 with an outstanding aggregate of 96.1%. She also had the honour of administering the Students’ Pledge, reflecting her exemplary academic achievement and leadership. Amidst resounding applause, the Chief Guest presented her with a certificate, medal, and a book in recognition of her remarkable accomplishment.

Upholding one of CMS’s most cherished traditions, Soumya’s mother was ceremonially weighed in fruits and flowers. Her father and teacher-guardian were honoured with tokens of appreciation for their unwavering encouragement and invaluable role in her success.
The Meritorious Students’ Felicitation Function further recognised the Top Scorers of the comparative exam, Campus Toppers, and Subject Toppers. They were felicitated with medals, certificates, and books for their exceptional academic accomplishments.
