CMS Rajajipuram Campus I Celebrates ‘Van Mahotsav’ with a Tree Plantation Drive in honour of the birthday of Hon’ble Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh

City Montessori School, Lucknow, celebrated Van Mahotsav with a sapling-planting and environmental awareness programme at the Rajajipuram Campus I. Reinforcing the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable living, the event was organised on the occasion of the birthday of India’s Defence Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh, who had inaugurated new facilities at the CMS Golf City Campus earlier this March.

The event was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Guest, Shri Satish Chandra Sharma, Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection, Government of Uttar Pradesh. Other distinguished leaders from Lucknow, including Shri Rajeev Mishra, Regional Vice President (Awadh Region), BJP Uttar Pradesh and Shri Shivpal Sawariya, former Corporator, Rajajipuram, Lucknow, also graced the occasion. Students, educators, and staff of CMS Rajajipuram Campus I came together to spread awareness about protecting the environment through meaningful action and community participation.

Welcoming the guests, CMS Manager Prof. Geeta Gandhi Kingdon highlighted the significance of Van Mahotsav as an opportunity to inspire greater environmental awareness. She spoke about the indispensable role of trees in sustaining life by providing oxygen, improving air quality, preserving biodiversity, and maintaining ecological balance. Encouraging students to become responsible environmental stewards, she urged them to adopt sustainable habits and contribute towards protecting the planet.

The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by our honourable dignitaries. CMS Manager Prof. Geeta Gandhi Kingdon, along with the distinguished guests, planted saplings on the school campus, symbolising the shared responsibility of individuals, communities, and institutions in nurturing and preserving the environment. The celebration continued with vibrant music and dance performances by students.

Addressing the gathering, Hon’ble Minister, Shri Satish Chandra Sharma emphasised the importance of environmental conservation and appreciated the school’s efforts in following sustainable practices. He encouraged students and community members to work together towards building a greener, healthier future for generations to come.

Concluding the programme, Mrs Nisha Pandey (Senior Principal, CMS Rajajipuram Campus I) expressed her gratitude to the dignitaries, teachers and students for making the celebration meaningful. She encouraged everyone to plant more trees, care for the environment, and make sustainability a way of life.

Throughout the week, Van Mahotsav was celebrated across all City Montessori School campuses through a range of plantation drives, awareness activities, and student-led initiatives. Earlier this week, CMS Shalimar OneWorld Campus also observed the occasion along with the inauguration of its state-of-the-art swimming pool in the gracious presence of IAS officer Ms Divya Mittal. The event highlighted CMS’s integrated approach to holistic education, sports excellence, environmental awareness, and value-based learning. By blending environment education with meaningful action and community engagement, these initiatives inspire students to recognise that even small individual efforts can collectively create a lasting positive impact on the planet.
