Rooted in the rich and ancient language of Sanskrit, Vyomotsav is a beautiful fusion of two words — Vyom meaning “sky” or “space,” and Utsav meaning “festival” or “celebration.” Thus, Vyomotsav translates to “A Festival of the Skies” or “A Celebration of Space.” It signifies a spirited tribute to the vast cosmic expanse and our collective aspirations to explore what lies beyond. It is not merely an event; it is a symbol of dreams taking flight, of breaking boundaries, and of reaching for the stars.
Why Vyomotsav?
Vyomotsav is our way of celebrating an extraordinary achievement — a moment of immense pride for the City Montessori School (CMS) community. Our distinguished alumnus from CMS Aliganj Campus, Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, has been selected for the prestigious Axiom-4 Mission, a private spaceflight mission. His remarkable journey from a school desk to space is nothing short of inspirational.
Through Vyomotsav, we honor his flight beyond the four boundaries of Earth and aim to ignite a spark of curiosity and ambition among our students about the wonders of space exploration. It is a tribute to the limitless potential of the human spirit — and a reminder that the sky is not the limit, but just the beginning.
How Are We Celebrating Vyomotsav?
The celebrations began with the most symbolic act — naming the event itself. A naming competition was conducted across all CMS campuses, witnessing enthusiastic participation from students. The winning name, Vyomotsav, was beautifully coined by Ammaar Mohammad, a Class 10 student from the Rajendra Nagar Campus I. This moment marked not just the beginning of an event, but the unfolding of an entire cosmic journey — the trailer of a grand celebration.
From 21st to 26th April 2025, CMS campuses transformed into vibrant hubs of space-themed activities during our Space Week. Students from all corners of the school network channeled their creativity, intellect, and imagination through:
- Cosmic Verses – Poetry contests that captured the beauty and mystery of the universe. [click here to know more]

And the journey doesn’t end there! On 10th May 2025, we will host the grand showcase:
Astrobots Arena – A robotics challenge where students build, program, and display space-themed bots.
Celestial Window – A creative softboard display across campuses, showcasing the students’ works and reflections on the theme of space.
These events culminate in a Thanksgiving Ceremony, where students will present their efforts and celebrate the success of this inspiring festival.
Vyomotsav is more than an event — it is a celebration of dreams, of science, of art, and of the indomitable human spirit. It brings together the past, present, and future of CMS in one cosmic continuum — honoring the legacy of excellence, celebrating the achievements of our alumni, and sowing the seeds of inspiration in the hearts of our students. As we cheer for Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla’s historic journey into space, we also reaffirm our belief that every child is capable of touching the stars — all they need is a spark, and Vyomotsav is just that.
