Social Responsibilities

Environment Project

The school strongly believes in Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) and strives to instil environmental values in children. Environmental education is also an integral part of our classroom teaching and learning. Our students take the lead to participate in activities that generate awareness around environmental conservation and sustainable lifestyle.

Through engaging events like ‘Van Mohatsav’, where everyone plants saplings, and a curriculum emphasising environmental awareness, students and staff are inspired to contribute meaningfully. Practical activities and hands-on learning encourage children to protect the planet, fostering a sense of responsibility beyond traditional academics.

Van Mahotsav – A Celebration of Greenery

The school celebrates Van Mahotsav with great enthusiasm, where students, staff, and parents come together to plant saplings within and around the campus. This annual event serves as a hands-on opportunity for children to connect with nature and understand the importance of afforestation. Guided by their teachers, students also learn about the significance of trees in combating climate change, fostering environmental stewardship from an early age.

Classroom Activities for Environmental Awareness

To integrate environmental education into daily learning, the school conducts hands-on classroom activities like art projects using recycled materials, discussions on climate change, and house competitions focused on sustainable living. These activities make learning about environmental issues engaging and impactful. Through these interactive sessions, children are inspired to adopt eco-friendly practices and develop innovative ideas to contribute to a greener future.

Cleanliness Drives: Keeping the Campus and Surroundings Clean

The school encourages children to take an active role in keeping their surroundings clean and green. Regular campus clean-up drives are organised, where students work together to maintain a litter-free environment. Additionally, they are trained in simple habits like proper waste segregation and reducing plastic use. These initiatives instil a sense of responsibility in children, teaching them to care for the environment in meaningful, everyday ways.

Hands in Soil, Minds in Growth Activity

The activity focuses on the development of a Medicinal Garden, Herbal Garden, and Kitchen Garden within the school premises. This initiative aims to provide students with an enriching platform for project-based experiential learning

The project began with the preparation of the garden plot under the guidance of the school gardener. Students observed the process of soil preparation, weed removal, and levelling of the ground, which formed the foundation of the activity. This practical exposure helped students understand the importance of soil health and the first steps of gardening.

The next phase of the project will involve planting medicinal and herbal plants such as Tulsi, Aloe Vera, and Neem, alongside seasonal vegetables in the kitchen garden. Through this initiative, students will learn about the healing properties of medicinal plants and the value of sustainable living by growing their own vegetables.

We believe that this activity will serve as a living laboratory, instilling in students not only scientific knowledge but also a sense of responsibility towards the environment. Teachers and students together will nurture the gardens, ensuring the project grows successfully and continues to benefit future learners.

Kindness and Community Service Initiatives

At CMS Shalimar OneWorld, values-based education goes beyond classrooms, nurturing character, responsibility, and kindness in every learner. Through meaningful outreach activities, students learn compassion, empathy, and social responsibility, empowering them to make a positive social impact from a young age.
