H.E. Ms Katalin Novák
President of Hungary (2022 to 2024)
On March 10, 2022, the Hungarian Parliament elected a new President of the Republic in the person
of Ms. KatalinNovák, the first female President of Hungary. KatalinNovák took up her office on 10
May 2022.
Katalin Novák was born on 6 September 1977 in Szeged. She completed her university studies at the
University of Economic Sciences and Public Administration of Budapest and at the University of
Szeged, and also studied in Paris with a scholarship. She is an economist.
She started her career in 2001 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, headed by Minister JánosMartonyi.
After spending six years at home with her children, she worked an adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and between 2012 and 2014 she was the Head of Cabinet of Minister ZoltánBalog at of Human Capacities. From 2014 to 2020 she was Secretary of State for Family and Youth Affairs, and from 2017 to 2021 she was Vice-President of Fidesz, responsible for its foreign affairs, among other
things. She has been a member of the Hungarian National Assembly since 2018. From 2020 to 2021 she was Minister for Families.
KatalinNovák has lived and worked in the United States, France and Germany. In addition to her
mother tongue, she is fluent in English, French and German and conversational Spanish. She is the
mother of two boys and a girl.
H.E. Sir Rodney Errey Lawrence Williams
Governor-General of Antigua and Barbuda
Sir Rodney Errey Lawrence Williams, GCMG, KGN, KStJ (born 2 November 1947) is the current and
4th Governor-General of Antigua and Barbuda.
Rodney Williams is the son of Ernest Emmanuel Williams, the former Antigua Labour Party (ALP)
parliamentary representative for the St Paul constituency and Irene B. Williams, a professional
educator in Antigua and Barbuda.
Williams attended the Antigua Grammar School in St. John's. Upon graduating he taught at his alma mater for a year. He then studied medicine at the University of the West Indies, Mona, where he received his MBBS degree in Medicine and Surgery in 1976. From 1978, after completing his Internship at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Barbados, he pursued his private medical practice in
Antigua & Barbuda.
Rodney Williams entered politics in 1984 as the Member of Parliament for the St Paul constituency,
which had been previously represented by his father. Between 1992 and 2004, he served in the
cabinet as a minister, holding variously or jointly the portfolios of education, culture, technology,
economic development, tourism, and environment. He represented St Paul up to 2004.
After the Antigua Labour Party's victory at the 1994 General Elections, Prime Minister Lester Bird appointed Williams as Minister of Education, Culture and Technology.
Rodney Williams was sworn into office on 14 August 2014 as the 4th Governor General of Antigua
and Barbuda.
