Shubhanshu Shukla is a Group Captain and test pilot with the Indian Air Force (IAF) and a gaganyatri (astronaut) with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), representing India’s pioneering achievements in space exploration. A graduate of City Montessori School in Lucknow, he made history in July 2025 by becoming the first ISRO astronaut to visit the International Space Station (ISS) while participating in Axiom Mission 4, a privately organised spaceflight, marking him as the second Indian to travel to space. As a qualified test pilot, he brings over 2,000 hours of flying experience across diverse aircraft. His unique combination of military aviation expertise and space exploration experience positions him at the forefront of India’s expanding role in international space cooperation and technological advancement, bridging defense capabilities with civilian space exploration initiatives.
