Honourable Mr Justice Rizine Robert Mzikamanda, SC, serves as Chief Justice of Malawi, following a prominent judicial career that has seen him rise through every level of the judiciary, from Resident Magistrate to Justice of Appeal. A graduate of the University of Malawi and the University of Hull, Justice Mzikamanda is widely recognised for his leadership in judicial reform, professional training, and his steadfast commitment to integrity within the judiciary.
His experience extends beyond national borders, having served as an Alternate Judge at the United Nations Special Tribunal for the trial of Charles Taylor. As Chief Justice, he leads Malawi’s judiciary with a focus on upholding the highest standards of judicial excellence, institutional independence, and systemic modernisation. His extensive experience across all judicial tiers, coupled with his international tribunal service, offers profound insights into contemporary judicial challenges, legal system development, and global judicial cooperation.
