ROBO VISION – Robot Balloon Challenge
Category: Senior
Date: 14th October, 2026
Timing: 09:30 AM to 02:30 PM
Theme
Engineering Precision Meets Competitive Robotics!
Event Description
The Robot Balloon Challenge is a high-energy robotics competition where teams design and build a balloon-bursting robot during a time-bound on-site hackathon. In spirit, it is a race of speed, brains and nerves of steel, where robots enter from different directions, navigate hurdles and rush towards the centre to burst the balloon.
This challenge evaluates mechanical design, control accuracy, problem-solving ability and strategic execution under pressure.
Event Format
- 3-hour on-site hackathon to build the robot.
- Arena size: 8 ft × 8 ft.
Rules and Regulations
Team & Build Rules
- Each team must consist of 2 participants from the Senior Category.
- Robots must be built entirely on-site from unassembled components.
- Teams must bring their own tools and components.
- A computer system will be provided by the organiser.
- Internet usage and external fabrication are strictly prohibited.
- Teams will be allowed one repair window of 2 minutes following the build process.
Mandatory Robot Configuration
- Four-wheel drive chassis made of plastic, wood or acrylic only.
- Four BO motors with wheels.
- Arduino Uno R3.
- L293D motor driver.
- FlySky transmitter & receiver or Bluetooth module.
- Battery-powered system (maximum 15V).
- Robot must be wireless.
- The balloon must be burst using a robotic arm/extension mechanism only.
- The total length of the arm from the chassis must not exceed 15 cm.
Size & Design Constraints
- Maximum dimensions:
- Length: Width: 20 cm × 20 cm
- Height: 15 cm from the chassis
- Robots that damage the arena or any other robot will be disqualified.
- No manual intervention is allowed once the match begins.
