Message from the CMS Managing Director

Digital Literacy is one of the key skills we are trying to teach at CMS, and it is the main motivation for the theme of COFAS International 2026, which is ‘Digital Humanity: Technology with a Purpose’. Over the years, this invigorating international Olympiad has nurtured and inspired curiosity, discovery, creativity, adaptability, and resilience among its student participants, and I’m sure this latest instalment will do no less.

COFAS 2026: Digital Humanity: Where Technology Meets Purpose

Empowering young innovators to build a kinder, smarter digital world at the 23rd International Computer Olympiad (COFAS) 2026.

Did you know that while nearly 33% of students globally are already integrating Artificial Intelligence tools into their learning journeys (Digital Education Council, 2026), a significant digital divide persists, with a staggering 2.2 billion people worldwide still lacking access to the internet (International Telecommunication Union, 2025)?

This disparity underscores a critical need for a future where technology serves humanity equitably. The 23rd International Computer Olympiad (COFAS) 2026, addresses this challenge head-on. Since 1959, City Montessori School (CMS) has been a beacon of value-based education, and COFAS continues this legacy by providing a unique global platform for young minds to innovate with purpose. This distinguished four-day international event cultivates awareness of responsible and ethical technology use, encouraging innovations that prioritise inclusion and sustainability, all while celebrating human creativity as the heart of every digital advancement.

Why Attend COFAS 2026?

  • Global Collaboration: Connect and compete with peers from across the world, fostering cultural understanding and global citizenship
  • Purpose-Driven Innovation: Engage in challenges like designing civic-minded games, debating the ethics of AI, or creating art that champions digital humanity
  • Real-World Impact: Your projects can address pressing global challenges, reflecting the principles of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure)
  • Legacy of Excellence: Be part of a tradition that inspires young technocrats to dream big and create with confidence and compassion

Beyond the Competition: COFAS 2026 is more than a competition; it’s a call to action for students from Classes VII to XII to become thoughtful architects of a better, more inclusive world

Under the theme “Digital Humanity – Technology with a Purpose,” students are invited to imagine solutions that strengthen communities, bridge digital divides, encourage ethical innovation and place human values at the heart of every technological breakthrough.

Our Inspiration

“And the honour and distinction of the individual consist in this, that he among all the world’s multitudes should become a source of social good. Science and technology that are directed toward the good of humanity are indeed praiseworthy achievements.”
