Event Description

“Words have the power to shape worlds—especially the digital ones.”
As we step deeper into an era ruled by algorithms and artificial intelligence, the question of how humane our technology remains has never been more important. The Confabular Debate challenges young thinkers to voice their perspectives on the ethical, emotional and societal dimensions of technology.
Is technology enhancing our humanity, or is it replacing it? Are we the masters of innovation or its subjects? Let your arguments, logic and articulation bring clarity to these questions as you take the stage where intellect meets empathy.

Rules and Regulations

  1. Each team will be represented by one speaker from the Senior Category.
  2. A draw of lots will be held on the day of registration to decide the motion (for or against).
  3. Each speaker will have 3 minutes to present their arguments.
  4. A warning bell will ring after 2 minutes.
  5. A 1-minute rebuttal round will follow, during which participants may respond to questions raised by the opposing speakers.
  6. A preliminary selection round will be held. The best 10 teams for each motion will qualify for the Finals.
  7. The results of the Preliminary Round and the Final topic will be declared on the same day.
  8. The judges’ decision shall be final and binding.
