Carrying a Musical Legacy Across Generations

Ustad Kamal Sabri is a celebrated sarangi maestro and composer, carrying forward the seventh
generation of the 400-year-old Moradabad Gharana. Trained by his father, the legendary Ustad
Sabri Khan, from the age of five, he has grown into a distinguished exponent of the sarangi,
equally accomplished as a soloist and accompanist.
His artistry has taken the sarangi to audiences across the world, from the ‘Art of the Bow’ Festival
in Geneva and BBC recordings to collaborations with celebrated musicians including Ustad Zakir
Hussain and Jan Garbarek. His remarkable journey has earned him several national and
international honours, including the Best Instrumentalist Award, the Nashville Music City Award for
International Artist of the Year, the Shri Krishna Peace-Unity Award, and a Gold Medal at the
Global Music Awards in Los Angeles.
As a passionate cultural ambassador for Indian classical music, Ustad Kamal Sabri continues to
connect a rich musical heritage with contemporary global audiences.
