Words of Wisdom From the Best CMS Teachers for the Session 2018-2019

Teaching is an art which requires both skill and understanding. One may be loaded with knowledge but that is not enough. He or she must also be able to impart the right knowledge to the students at the right time. On the basis of ISC and ICSE Board Exam Results, CMS selects the Best Teachers of the Year in each Subject. Rewards in cash and kind are given to all the dedicated and highly proficient teachers on Teachers Day. Let us see what these Best ISC & ICSE teachers that form the crème-de-la-crème of the CMS teaching fraternity have to say.

ICSE Teachers :

1. Pinki Keswani of CMS Indira Nagar Campus, for English Language with an average of 76.12%

Q1. What are your feelings on being declared Best ICSE teacher? Did you expect this success?

A. The exhilaration and the immense glee I felt on hearing this news elevated my soul to cloud nine. I was startled and amazed. The utmost gratitude which reverberated within my conscience reinstated my undying faith in painstaking efforts.

Q2. Who are your inspiration in life?

A. My parents indeed, not to forget the divine light which eternally illuminates my path thus unknowingly leading to beautiful destinations.

Q3. What challenges did you face while teaching? How did you overcome them?

A. Every student has a different and distinct capability to comprehend and analyse situations in which he may find himself to be stuck in. We have to distinguish between slow, mediocre and fast learners. I overcame challenges by adopting a student-friendly approach and sorting out an effective strategy of revision and mock tests.

2. Mr Anil Pande of CMS Gomti Nagar Campus I for English Literature with an average of 98.92%.

Q1. Who is your inspiration in life?

A. Swami Vivekanand, Dr. APJ Kalam and of course our Founder-Manager and Founder-Director. Their dedication and hard work has always motivated me.

Q2. What is special about CMS as compared to other schools?

A. The hard work and dedication of the teachers as well as the students takes them forward in life. Peace education and emphasis on moral values leads to character development.

Q3. What are your views about the CMS pattern of education, remedial teaching, home-visit scheme?

A. CMS is following an extraordinary pattern of education. There are plenty of feedback tests and exams which help the students in revision. Support from the CMS Innovation Wing is invaluable.

3. Ms Aparna Singh of CMS Gomti Nagar Campus II for Hindi with an average of 95.54%.

Q1. Who is your inspiration in life?

A. My biggest inspiration in life is our very own Ma'am Bharti Gandhi. She really inspires me by her generosity, kindness and hard work. One of the most special things about her is how she is so down to earth after being so successful.

Q2. What challenges did you face while teaching? How did you overcome them?

A. One of the biggest challenges I faced was to develop a friendly bond with my students because sometimes, students are scared of teachers. I overcame this eventually by supporting them, communicating with them and guiding them.

Q3. What are your views about the CMS pattern of education, remedial teaching, home-visit scheme?

A. CMS has an exceptionally well-designed educational pattern. Home-visit is an important policy because communication becomes much easier in a home environment wherein students and their parents can freely discuss their problems with the teacher and sort them out. Remedial teaching, is a good way of helping students to cover their grey areas where they have problems.

4. Mr Maninder Singh Bagga of CMS Mahanagar Campus for Commercial Studies with an average of 89.11%.

Q1. Did you always want to be a teacher?

A. Yes, I always wanted to be a teacher inspired by great scientist-teachers like Dr. C. V. Raman and Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam.

Q2. What message would you like to give to your fellow teachers and to your students?

A. Nothing is impossible. Sky is not the limit.

Q3.How do you teach values to students along with your subject teaching?

A. I keep giving examples of Guru Nanak Dev and other great personalities and inculcate moral values in my students. I advise them to keep striving for betterment of body, mind and soul.

5. Ms Monika Malik of CMS RDSO Campus for Computer Applications with an average of 96.91%.

Q1. What are your feelings being declared Best ICSE teacher? Did you expect this success?

A. Success is the fruit of collaborative effort plus support and encouragement from each member of the system. My sincere gratitude to the Almighty who has given me opportunity to be a tiny component of this prestigious and vast school City Montessori School.

Q2. What message would you like to give to your students?

A. I would like to say that Competition is a by-product of productive work, not its goal. A creative man is motivated by the desire to achieve, not by the desire to beat others.

Q3.What are your hobbies and interests?

A. Yoga and Gardening nourish my body and soul.

6. Mr Nakshatra Pandey of CMS Aliganj Campus for physical Education with an average of 95.10%.

Q1. What challenges did you face while teaching? How did you overcome them ?

A. As a teacher of Senior classes, we come across a number of challenges including problems associated with adolescence, effects of audio-visual media, peer group influence etc. I try to overcome by counselling and having discussion with children sometimes involving the counsellor as well.

Q2.What message would you like to give to your fellow teachers and to your students ?

A. To be focussed, planned in approach, manage time well and avoid stress.

Q3.How do you impart value-based education or how do you teach values to students alongwith your subject teaching ?

A. Value-based education can shape their future and add purpose of their life. It helps them learn to live the right way to life, because a teacher is supposed to be a role model for the children. So a teacher is required to follow high moral values.

ISC Teachers :

1. Ms Prerna Raj of CMS Gomti Nagar Campus II for English with an average of 86.18%.

Q1. What challenges did you face while teaching? How did you overcome them?

A. There are different kinds of students with different mind sets. We have to adopt a varied approach to deal with each one of them. Often they come from widely different backgrounds. Bringing them to the same parameter, I think, is always challenging. My experience helped me getting the best out of each child and helping each one realize his or her potential to the maximum.

Q2. What are your views about the CMS pattern of education, remedial teaching, and home-visit scheme?

A. I completely believe that apart from material education, CMS imparts values which I love the most. Remedial teaching may seem taxing but it helps the students abundantly. Home visits help in knowing my students in a better way.

Q3. How do you teach values to students along with your subject teaching?

A. A Literature is a perfect medium to teach values. I always connect literature with real life situations and help boost their horizons and values.

2. Mrs Indrani Chandra, of CMS Gomti Nagar Campus II for English with an average of 86.18%.

Q1.What challenges did you face while teaching? How did you overcome them?

A. Quite a few challenges were faced by me. For example, the students have a lot of information about everything these days, so it's imperative for us to be updated always and thus be better role models for our students.

Q2.What are your hobbies and interests?

A.I am deeply interested in vocal music and reading good fiction

Q3. How do you impart value-based education to your students along with subject teaching?

A. Basically, I try to relate everyday experiences with my subject and also try to narrate a few good examples that can bring about a positive change in students' mind set.

3. Ms Rudrawati Pandey of CMS Mahanagar Campus for Hindi with an average of 89.23%.

Q1.What are your feelings being declared Best ISC/ ICSE teacher? Did you expect this success?

A. I felt a sense of pride and happiness. Yes, I expected the success because I worked very hard with students.

Q2.What is your message to students?

A.Rigorous practice is the key to success and to beat any kind of competition.

Q3. List your favourites in games, music, entertainment, movies.

A. Games – Badminton; Music– Bhajans & film songs; Movies – Roza, Damini, Lagaan, Gadar.

4. Mr Siddharth S. Mishra of CMS Gomti Nagar Campus II for Computer Studies with an average of 93.30%.

Q1.Did you always want to be a teacher?

A. I did not want to become a teacher but when I started my teaching career I enjoyed working with my students that gave me immense pleasure and satisfaction. That satisfaction drove me to continue in the profession.

Q2.What challenges did you face while teaching? How did you overcome them?

A.In a class there are varieties of students. It was always difficult for me to teach those students who lack motivation. So I started communicating more with them and encouraging them to participate in the teaching process by giving more attention to such students. I simplified my teaching and ensure that it should be easily understood by those students.

Q3. Anything else you would like to share with us about yourself.

A. My biggest achievement in life is when I motivated two of my students to win TCS IT WIZ. They brought the Winners' trophy for the CMS first time in the year 2016 and fulfilled the dream of our Founder Manager Sir.

5. Mr M. K. Saxena of CMS Kanpur Road Campus for Biology with an average of 88.25%.

Q1.For how many years have you been teaching in CMS?

A.32 years, I joined CMS in 1987.

Q2.What is special about CMS as compared to other schools?

A.Individual attention is paid to the students, along with academics the development of spiritual and Mental faculties of the children are also taken care of. The concept of Remedial classes and Teacher Guardianship are unique features of CMS. The kind of International exposure the children get in CMS through various International events and Judge’s Conference is unparalleled. They develop the feeling of universal brotherhood (vasudev kutumbkam) and Global outlook by the speeches of Respected Gandhi Sir.

Q3. Did you always want to be a teacher?

A. Yes I was interested in teaching because teaching is a noble profession and a teacher plays a vital role in shaping the destiny of the society.

6. Mr Anil Srivastava of CMS Gomti Nagar Campus I, Best Physical Education Teacher, ICSE with an average of 99.13%.

Q1.What are your feelings being declared Best ISC / ICSE teacher? Did you expect this success?

A.It is an awesome feeling being declared the Best Teacher. Yes, I was confident as I had worked hard for this.

Q2.What is special about CMS as compared to other schools?

A.he positive, systematic and ethical work culture in CMS.

Q3. What message would you like to give to your fellow teachers and to your students?

A. Hard work is the key to success. There is no short cut to success. Also, we all should be loyal towards our work.

CMS Teachers win National Honours

Mrs Shiksha Tripathi Junior Section Teacher of CMS Kanpur Road won an i-ball tablet for Best Teacher and maximum participation of students in Indian Talent Olympiad (P. T. Usha Olympiad). The subject in which students participated were G.K., Maths, Science, Computer and Art.

Mrs Rupam Saluja, Vice Principal of CMS Kanpur Road was declared as the winner of Teacher Glory Award under category 'Headteacher of the Year in a Secondary School' in the 14th World Education Award at Delhi on 9 August.
