अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय साक्षरता दिवस (8 सितम्बर) पर विशेष लेख
21वीं सदी की शिक्षा!

(1) यूनेस्को 21वीं सदी शिक्षा का स्वरूप विश्वव्यापी दृष्टिकोण विकसित करने के लिए प्रयासरत है:-
शिक्षित व्यक्ति विश्व में शांति फैलाने में अहम भूमिका निभा सकता है। जब सभी लोग साक्षर अर्थात शिक्षित होंगे तो उनके पास रोजगार होंगे, रोजगार का अर्थ है-आमदनी, स्वच्छता, समृद्धि, खुशहाली और स्वास्थ्य। अगर घर-घर में खुशहाली होगी तो लोग आपस में लड़ेंगे नहीं वरन् आपस में मिल-जुलकर एकता के साथ रहेंगे। समृद्धि आने से स्वस्थ मनोरंजन एवं ज्ञान के अनेक साधन उपलब्ध होंगे जिससे अनियंत्रित जनसंख्या वृद्धि के प्रति जागरूकता आयेगी। एकता के वृक्ष पर ही शान्ति के फल लगते हैं। विश्व में शान्ति लाने के लिए पहले हमें प्रत्येक बालक को शिक्षित करके घर-घर में एकता रूपी ज्ञान का दीपक जलाना होगा। शिक्षा के महत्व को समझते हुए ही साक्षरता दर को सुधारने और इस क्षेत्र में अधिक काम करने के लिए ही संयुक्त राष्ट्र शैक्षिक, वैज्ञानिक एवं सांस्कृतिक संगठन (यूनेस्को) द्वारा प्रतिवर्ष 8 सितम्बर को अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय साक्षरता दिवस मनाया जाता है।
(2) शिक्षा के द्वारा ही सारी मानव जाति से प्रेम करने वाले विश्व नागरिक विकसित हो सकते हैं:-
संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघ के पूर्व महासचिव डा0 कोफी अन्नान ने कहा था कि ‘‘मानव इतिहास में 20वीं सदी सबसे खूनी तथा हिंसा की सदी रही है।’’ 20वीं सदी में विश्व भर में दो महायुद्धों तथा अनेक युद्धों की विनाश लीला का ये सब ताण्डव संकुचित राष्ट्रीयता के कारण हुआ है, जिसके लिए सबसे अधिक दोषी हमारी शिक्षा है। विश्व के सभी देशों के स्कूल अपने-अपने देश के बच्चों को अपने देश से प्रेम करने की शिक्षा तो देते हैं, लेकिन शिक्षा के द्वारा सारे विश्व से प्रेम करना नहीं सिखाते हैं। हमारा मानना है कि यदि विश्व सुरक्षित रहेगा तभी देश सुरक्षित रहेंगे। विश्व के बदलते हुए परिदृश्य को देखने से ज्ञात होता है कि 21वीं सदी की शिक्षा का स्वरूप 20वीं सदी की शिक्षा से भिन्न होना चाहिए। 21वीं सदी की शिक्षा उद्देश्यपूर्ण होनी चाहिए, जिससे सारी मानव जाति से प्रेम करने वाले विश्व नागरिक विकसित हो। इसलिए 21वीं सदी की शिक्षा के माध्यम से प्रत्येक बालक का दृष्टिकोण विश्वव्यापी बनाना चाहिए।
(3) युद्ध के विचार मानव मस्तिष्क में पैदा होते हैं:-
मनुष्य को विचारवान बनाने की श्रेष्ठ अवस्था बचपन है। इसलिए संसार के प्रत्येक बालक को विश्व एकता एवं विश्व शांति की शिक्षा बचपन से अनिवार्य रूप से दी जानी चाहिए। चूँकि युद्ध के विचार मानव मस्तिष्क में पैदा होते हैं। इसलिए हमें मानव मस्तिष्क में ही शान्ति के विचार डालने होंगे। हमारा मानना है कि मानव इतिहास में वह क्षण आ गया है जब शिक्षा को सामाजिक परिवर्तन लाने का सशक्त माध्यम बनकर विश्व भर में हो रही उथल-पुथल का समाधान विश्व एकता तथा विश्व शान्ति की शिक्षा द्वारा प्रस्तुत करना चाहिए। नोबेल पुरस्कार विजेता महान अर्थशास्त्री जान टिनबेरजेन के यह विचार बरबस हमारा ध्यान आकर्षित करते हैं कि ”राष्ट्रीय सरकारें, विश्व के समक्ष उपस्थित संकटों का हल अधिक समय तक हल नहीं कर पायेंगी। इन समस्याओं के समाधान के लिए विश्व सरकार आवश्यक है।’’ अहिंसा के मसीहा महात्मा गाँधी ने कहा था कि यदि हम इस विश्व में वास्तविक शांति की सीख देना चाहते है, और यदि हम युद्ध के विरूद्ध वास्तविक युद्ध चाहते हैं तो हमें इसकी शुरूआत बच्चों से करनी होगी।’’
(4) विश्व एकता की शिक्षा इस युग की सबसे बड़ी आवश्यकता है:-
यदि विश्व के सभी लोग अपने आपसी मतभेदों को एक-एक करके कम करते जायें तथा एकता तथा शान्ति के आदर्शों के अन्तर्गत एकताबद्ध हो जायें तो अति शीघ्र विश्वव्यापी आतंकवाद ही नहीं वरन् अशिक्षा, गरीबी, भुखमरी तथा पर्यावरण संबंधी समस्याओं का समाधान हो सकता है। संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघ में एन.जी.ओ. का अधिकृत दर्जा प्राप्त भारत का एकमात्र गिनीज बुक आॅफ वल्र्ड रिकार्ड के अनुसार विश्व में एक ही शहर में सबसे अधिक बच्चों वाला सिटी मोन्टेसरी स्कूल जो कि यूनेस्को शान्ति शिक्षा पुरस्कार से सम्मानित भी हैं, अपना नैतिक उत्तरदायित्व समझते हुए विश्व के दो अरब तथा पचास करोड़ बच्चों तथा आगे आने वाली पीढ़ियों के सुरक्षित भविष्य के लिए विगत 60 वर्षों से प्रयासरत् है। सिटी मोन्टेसरी स्कूल का मानना है कि विश्व एकता तथा शान्ति की शिक्षा ही इस युग की सबसे बड़ी आवश्यकता है।
(5) सभी प्रकार के विवादों का समाधान परामर्श करके निकाला जाना चाहिए:-
वर्तमान में संकुचित राष्ट्रीयता तथा सम्प्रभुता आदि के नाम पर सारा विश्व अलग-अलग टुकड़ों में बंट गया है। दूसरे राष्ट्र को जीतने तथा अपने को सुरक्षित बनाने के प्रयास में राष्ट्रों के बीच परमाणु शस्त्रों की होड़ बढ़ गयी है। इसलिए विश्व के सभी राष्ट्रों का उत्तरदायित्व है कि वे विश्वव्यापी समस्याओं तथा राष्ट्रों के बीच के आपसी मतभेदों का समाधान शान्तिपूर्ण परामर्श करके निकाले। जब तक सारे विश्व में एकता और शान्ति का वातावरण निर्मित नहीं होगा, तब तक विश्व के दो अरब तथा पचास करोड़ बच्चों तथा आगे आने वाली पीढ़ियों का भविष्य सुरक्षित नहीं हो सकता। हमारे प्रत्येक स्थानीय तथा अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय प्रयास इस तरह के होने चाहिए जिससे वीटो पाॅवर रहित एक न्यायपूर्ण विश्व का निर्माण हो।
(6) भारतीय संविधान के अनुच्छेद 51 में ही अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय समस्याओं का समाधान निहित है:-
विगत 18 वर्षों से हमारे विद्यालय द्वारा प्रतिवर्ष भारतीय संविधान के अनुच्छेद 51 पर विश्व के मुख्य न्यायाधीशों का अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय सम्मेलन प्रतिवर्ष आयोजित किया जा रहा है। हमारा विश्वास है कि वल्र्ड जुडीशियरी मानव जाति के सुरक्षित भविष्य की अन्तिम आशा है। हमारे विद्यालय के 56,000 से अधिक बच्चों की ओर से की जा रही विश्व के दो अरब तथा पचास करोड़ बच्चों के सुरक्षित भविष्य की अपील को विश्व के वल्र्ड जुडीशियरी का भारी समर्थन मिल रहा है। हमारा विश्वास है कि जगत गुरू भारत अपनी उदार संस्कृति, प्राचीन सभ्यता तथा अनूठे संविधान के अनुच्छेद 51 के आधार पर सारे विश्व में शान्ति स्थापित करेगा।
(7) बच्चों में बाल्यावस्था से विश्वव्यापी समझ विकसित करनी चाहिए:-
हम अपने विद्यालय में विगत कई वर्षों से विश्व के विभिन्न देशों के छात्र-छात्राओं को प्रतिवर्ष विभिन्न विषयों की अन्तर्राष्ट्रीय स्तर की 28 शैक्षिक प्रतियोगिताओं में प्रतिभाग करने के लिए आमंत्रित करते हैं तथा हमारे विद्यालय के सर्वाधिक छात्र पिछले कई वर्षों से प्रति वर्ष दूसरे देशों में आयोजित शैक्षिक कार्यक्रमों में प्रतिभाग करने जाते हैं। बच्चों की ‘वल्र्ड पार्लियामेन्ट’ का आयोजन हम अपने प्रत्येक शैक्षिक कार्यक्रम के प्रारम्भ में करते हैं। बच्चों की इस वल्र्ड पार्लियामेन्ट में विश्व के विभिन्न देशों के प्रतिनिधि बने बच्चे विश्व की समस्याओं तथा उनके समाधान पर चर्चा करते हैं। बच्चों की प्रत्येक वल्र्ड पार्लियामेन्ट का एजेण्डा अलग-अलग होता है। इस प्रकार हम बच्चों में बाल्यावस्था से ही उन्हें विश्व की समस्याओं का ज्ञान कराने के साथ ही उनमें उसके समाधान आपसी परामर्श द्वारा निकालने की क्षमता विकसित कर रहे हैं। साथ ही विश्व भर के बच्चों को यह संकल्प कराया जा रहा है कि एक दिन दुनियाँ एक करूँगा धरती स्वर्ग बनाऊँगा, विश्व शान्ति का सपना एक दिन सच कर दिखलाऊँगा।

At CMS, we have long believed that truemodern education must consist not solely of the ‘material education’ we receive through our classroom subjects, but also the holistic character development (or ‘human education’) of a child. As educators, we have a unique responsibility towards the moral empowerment of our students. While this idea has traditionally been captured largely through ‘Moral Education’ classes, we are moving towards an understanding in which moral education is not something that stops at a timetabled ‘period’, but rather becomes something infused in all that we do and every interaction that we have at school.
It is from this perspective that CMS is excitedly supporting the Virtues Project, a global grassroots movement that aims to advance moral education through a cultural shift in schools, in which teachers and students alike are able to recognize each other for the virtues that all human beings possess. The Virtues Project has found success in over 100 countries across the globe, has been honoured by the United Nations, and has been endorsed by the Dalai Lama. It is our hope that at CMS the Virtues Project will find similar success and support the development of our safe, loving, and high-performance learning community.
Simply through the language that we use – and without doing anything differently in terms of classroom procedures, trying anything time-consuming, or changing our subject pedagogy – it is possible to establish a connection of love and trust that will support students in their moral development. As one sees students demonstrating their virtues such as patience, friendliness, and justice, they can be acknowledged for exhibiting these noble qualities. Likewise, as they are observed struggling to call on their virtues, they can be supported them by recognizing the virtues that they need to be called to. For example, instead of telling a child to “be quiet and listen to your classmate”, we can invite them to “be respectful when listening to what each person says”.
ear students: in every interaction that you have amongst yourselves, you also have the opportunity to uplift one another: whether it be practising generosity and kindness in sharing stationery with a fellow student who has forgotten theirs, or helpfulness and humility in assisting a friend who is struggling with their exam preparation. You can demonstrate moral leadership amongst your peers by striving to distinguish yourselves by the very way you treat one another. In every moment, each of us has an opportunity to treat one another in a virtuous way. We can create an environment of encouragement not solely based on academic success and marks, but also the virtues latent in all of us. As the Virtues Project espouses: “make every moment a virtues moment!”

Senior Principal of CMS Aliganj Campus I, Mrs Jyoti Kashyap, and Principal of CMS Gomti Nagar Campus I, Mrs Abha Anant, were honoured with 'Future 50 Leaders Shaping Success' award at a special felicitation ceremony held in Jaipur. Renowned dignitaries, educationists, Principals and teachers from all over India were present at the glittering function. This prestigious honour has been bestowed upon these CMS Principals for incorporating latest tools and techniques in pedagogy and curriculum, providing a serene atmosphere to students for learning, improving school infrastructure with the latest equipments, providing maximum opportunity to students for improving their skills and holistic development and stepping ahead on the path of achievements.

The 1st Annual Commemorative Ram Ugrah Cartoon Drawing Memorial contest was held at CMS in August for the students of Classes IX and above. The contest has been instituted by a CMS alumnus, Mr Prakash Gupta, IFS, Deputy Chief of Indian Mission to Indonesia, in the memory of his late father, renowned cartoonist of Times of India, Late Ram Ugrah ji, with the aim of keeping young students encouraged in the art of drawing with captions that bring out their creative best with a sense of humour.
Ipshita Srivstava of Class XI, Cambridge Section, Abhideep Shikhar of Class IX, Gomti Nagar Campus II and Anushka Tripathi of Class XII, Kanpur Road Campus, won the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cash prizes of ₹ 5000, 3000 and 2000 respectively. Ansharah Tariq of CMS Chowk, Yashvi Singh and Yash Vardhan Singh of Gomti nagar Campus II and Tulika of Gomti Nagar Campus I were awarded consolation prizes. Contest was held on the topic 'Saving the Environment.'

Position holders of ICSE march ahead
CMS organized Grand Students’ Felicitation Functions on 3 and 6 August to honour and award prizes to the toppers of the First Comparative Examinations of ISC and ICSE 2019. On 3rd August, CMS honoured and felicitated the position holders of CMS Inter-Campus First Comparative ICSE Examination 2019-2020. Simran Singh of CMS Aliganj Campus I stood first with 96.95% marks in the aggregate. On 6th August, the position holders of the ISC First Comparative Examinations were honoured. Anushka Singh of CMS Aliganj Campus I secured the first position in First Comparative ISC Examination. The toppers were specially rewarded with prize and certificate, and their mothers were weighed in fruits and flowers in traditional CMS Honouring Ceremony, while their fathers and teacher-guardians were presented with Shawls of Honour.
