Two day Model United Nations begins at CMS

Students hold meaningful discussion on global problems

Lucknow, 27 April : City Montessori School, Rajajipuram Campus's 2nd edition of its 2-day Model United Nations, empowering diplomacy, transforming global community was inaugurated today with participation of over 400 students from Kanpur, Raibareily, Bhilwara, Jabalpur, Ooty and various schools of Lucknow. The event was formally inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Mr Arsh Ali, who is a former student of CMS and youngest archeologist and first egyptologist of India. Addressing the gathering on this occasion, Mr Arsh Ali said that the Conference was a most outstanding and innovative initiative of CMS aimed at bringing out the best in children and giving them useful knowledge about international relations. CMS Manager, Prof Geeta Gandhi said that CMS recognizes the value of Model UN simulations to engage young people with the initiatives and goals of the UN, as well as, to build their skills in diplomacy, public speaking and decision making. Earlier, the Convener of MUN and Senior Principal of CMS Rajajipuram Campus I, Mrs Nisha Pandey heartily welcomed the participating students from across the country and the eminent personalities present there. At the inaugural ceremony, CMS students presented colourful educational-cultural items, mesmerizing one and all.

Model United Nations is a replica of the actual General Assembly of the United Nations. Herein, representatives of various countries gather together on a global platform and throw forth their views regarding the world’s problems followed by a healthy discussion and suggestion of peaceful solutions to these. The MUN aims at promoting the universal values of World Unity and World Peace and encouraging the total personality development of the students.
