From the President's Pen...

Prof. Geeta Kingdon, President, CMS
Dear Parents,

April has been an incredibly busy and joyous month at CMS – with many enriching events and out-of-class learning opportunities for students. Visiting UK duo Jack and Joel’s musical roadshow kicked off the month nicely when their contemporary-music performances rocked students in every CMS campus.

The Commonwealth Day was organized meaningfully at Gomti Nagar I campus to reaffirm the values of democracy, rule of law and multilateralism. Aliganj I campus organized a hugely successful Model United Nations (MUN) which attracted so much interest, they had to close registration after 440 applicants from across scores of schools of Lucknow and the surrounding region, and the event greatly raised senior students’ understanding of world affairs. Several campuses held their Open Days. A new reading programme ‘Stones to Milestones’ was introduced on a pilot basis in three campuses. The Anand Nagar and Rajajipuram I campuses got attractive new primary libraries, and Anand Nagar got new modern laboratories. A flurry of career counselling activities took place in April. First CMS hosted the IC3 Regional Forum of the International College & Career Counselling (IC3) Institute, in order to empower all our campuses to run a robust, fully-functional college counselling service. Secondly, the CMS Careers Day on Sunday 21st April attracted 23 foreign universities and 12 Indian universities, and about 25 other experts of different fields to guide students in various careers. The crowning glory of April was the concert of the India National Youth Orchestra and Chorus (INYOC) on 20th April where 77 CMS students and 19 CMS teachers joined 168 instrumentalists and singers from across 17 countries and 11 Indian states to sing and play western classical pieces by European composers of the 18th and 19th centuries - Grieg, Borodin, Tchaikovsky, Faure and Schubert, to celebrate the joyous Diamond Jubilee of CMS !
