February brought news of some remarkable and cheering achievements: Apratim Tiwari of CMS Gomti Nagar I won an all-expenses-paid trip to NASA, after winning the ‘Race to Space’ national quiz competition organized by The Hindu newspaper.

Kartik Agarwal of CMS Kanpur Road won an all-expenses-paid trip for him and his mother to Google Headquarters in California, USA, due to outstanding computer programmes he wrote as part of the ‘Google Code In’ national competition.

Anahita Singh of CMS Cambridge Section at Gomti Nagar II won the extremely rigorous ‘Times Scholars’ national competition organized by the Times of India. She was the only winner from Lucknow, out of 100 national winners.

Ms Kanika Kapoor, maths teacher of CMS Rajajipuram won the top rank in Lucknow, and second rank in UP, in the CENTA Teachers Professional Olympiad (TPO) in which 60,000 teachers from over 10,000 schools participated.

It is thrilling to note that 67 CMS students have received admission offers from universities abroad, 35 of them with generous scholarships, the top 10 of them ranging from Rs. 76 lakh to Rs. 1.15 crore each.

Eleven CMS music teachers performed at a choral concert in Delhi, with Latvian conductors, sponsored by the ABRSM music exam board, singing a repertoire of diverse types of classical and folk songs of the western musical tradition.

International Children's Film Festival (ICFF 2020) in April

CMS is organizing the International Children's Film Festival (ICFF-2020) from 15 to 23 April at CMS Kanpur Road auditorium. In this nine-day Film Festival, selected educational children's films from all over the world will be screened free of charge. The Festival aims at instilling good human and social values in children since the beginning, so that they may grow up to become agents of positive and profound social transformation and world citizens. Renowned film personalities and child artists will be attending the festival and inspiring the children with their sparkling presence and motivational words. The festival is convened by the Head of CMS Films and Radio Division, Mr Varghese Kurian.

CMS music teachers sing under Latvian conductor in Delhi

Eleven CMS music teachers who are training their voices for western classical singing, attended a masterclass by Latvian conductors followed by a choral performance in Delhi on Sunday 16th February. Beaming with excitement, they were effusive about their participation which they described as "incredibly enriching." The masterclass was attended by 100 singers of the western classical tradition from across India. The CMS music teachers also put up a special performance which comprised multi-faith prayers including prayers of six different religions composed for western classical choir by the Head of CMS western classical music, Mr Shamim Movahhed. The teachers had practised hard and were trained for their participation by their soprano maestra instructor Mrs Jinous Yegan. The event was sponsored by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) in New Delhi. The teachers are: Shrishti Pandey, Alpana Mehrotra, Jasjeet Kaur, Ashish Benjamin, Ashish Minz, Anurag Daniel, Anant Mishra, Pankaj Srivastava, Prateek Gupta, and Venus Raisi.

67 students selected for admission in top universities of UK, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand

67 brilliant CMS students have been selected by various prestigious universities of USA, UK, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Australia, Japan and other countries for admission their undergraduate and graduate programs. These students have worked hard and scored high percentages in their ISC and ICSE Board Exams. They have also got high scores in SAT and TOEFL Exams and many of them have earned lucrative scholarships for higher studies in prestigious universities of the world. CMS is the only SAT and Advanced Placement (AP) exam centre in U.P. which enables students to apply for higher studies abroad.

Apratim selected for educational trip to NASA

Apratim Tiwari, a talented Class VII student of CMS Gomti Nagar Campus I performed excellently at a national level competition 'Race to Space Quiz' and won an all-expense paid trip to US space agency, NASA. The contest was organized under the aegis of The Hindu Newspaper Group. Nearly six lakh students of over 2000 schools across India participated in the first round of the competition and 11,000 students participated in the second round of which four were selected for the trip.

Anahita wins national Times Scholars, 2019

Anahita Singh, a student of Class X, (IGCSE), of Cambridge Section of CMS has won the prestigious Times Scholars 2019, a national level Scholarship competition organised by Times of India, becoming the only winner from Lucknow. The winners were selected after a rigorous process comprising six practice tests, two powerpoint presentations, a final online test and two rounds of interviews. Anahita is among the top 100 students (of Classes X and XI) from all over India to have won this scholarship.

Kartik wins trip to Google HQ in California, USA

Kartik Agarwal (XI) won a trip to Google Headquarters in California, USA, in June 2020. Kartik, a programming enthusiast, had participated in 'Google Code In' and written several short programmes over 7 weeks to win this competition. The Google sponsored trip to California will take him around the Silicon valley and cater for his stay and travel. His mother too shall travel with him to the US.

Rising Talent, Amna of CMS Gomti Nagar Extension

Amna Khan of Class XI, CMS Gomti Nagar Extension, successfully participated in Immerse Education Essay Competition organized by Cambridge University and won a scholarship of 20% to attend award winning academic programs at the university. She also participated in Young Leaders for Active Citizenship program and received a scholarship of 75% for this. Further, she participated in the Commonwealth Essay Competition organized by the Royal Commonwealth Society of London and was awarded for the same.

Saumya gets national rank in CA Exam

Saumya Garg of CMS Chowk Campus secured the 41st Rank in Chartered Accountancy Examination. She has been a bright student throughout and a high achiever in school at academics and co-curricular activities. We wish her a shining future ahead!

CMS teacher stands first at CENTA Olympiad

Mrs Kanika Kapoor, a mathematics teacher of CMS Rajajipuram Campus I has secured first rank in Lucknow at the CENTA Teaching Professional Olympiad. Mrs Kanika has stood second at state level in this olympiad. This olympiad was organized under the aegis of Centre for Teacher Accreditation (CENTA) in which approximately 60,000 teachers from over 10,000 schools across the country participated.

CMS Republic Day Tableau highly applauded wins first prizes for dance and drill

The CMS Republic Day Tableau was one of the chief attractions at this year’s Republic Day Parade. With its all-embracing message of Vasudhaiv Kutumbkam, it sailed its way to glory winning the hearts of the onlookers. The melodious song rent the air as the children danced to the beat of the music. The Runner-up trophy was presented by the Governor of U.P., Hon'ble, Mrs Anandiben Patel to Dr Jagdish Gandhi, Founder-Manager of CMS at Beating the Retreat Function held in Reserve Police Line, Lucknow.

Dr Kalpana Tripathi, Principal, CMS Mahanagar Campus, received the first prize for an amazing dance performance by her students “Swachchta ki jyoti jagi re” while Mrs Jayashree Krishnan, Senior Principal, CMS Rajendra Nagar Campus I, received the first prize for a wonderful and inspiring drill by the students of her campus. “Saugandh mujhe is mitti ki desh nahin jhukne denge.” CMS tableau based on 'Vasudhaiv Kutumbkam' was awarded the second prize.

Afterwards, the tableau was kept at CMS Kanpur Road for public viewing where students, parents and teachers of different schools and colleges arrived in great number to imbibe its teachings and appreciate its beauty.

Harshvardhan bags Compudon Championship

Harshvardhan Bisht, a brilliant Class VIII student of CMS Mahanagar Campus won the junior category championship of 'Compudon', a national level computer competition, raising the school flag high. This contest was organized by the Cyber Learning India Pvt. Ltd. on Microsoft’s Digital Literacy Standard Version 4.0 in which thousands of junior class students from across the country participated. As many as 79 CMS students were selected in the final round of competition held in New Delhi. Harshvardhan Bisht was the ultimate winner of the national championship. 6 students got entry into the National Celebrated Participant List and 7 students got entry into the National Merit Participant List.
