The long-forgotten dreams of nations were brought back to life once again. For <strong>India<\/strong>, <strong>Poland<\/strong>, and <strong>Hungary<\/strong>, it was the <strong>first government-backed human space mission<\/strong> in over four decades and their maiden collaboration aboard the <strong>International Space Station (ISS).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The spacecraft docked seamlessly with the <strong>ISS\u2019s Harmony module\u2019s Zenith port<\/strong> on <strong>26 June 2025 (4:05 PM IST)<\/strong>, ushering in a <strong>20-day<\/strong>, <strong>320-orbit<\/strong> sojourn covering <strong>8.4 million miles, or 13.5 million kilometres<\/strong>. It included <strong>7 microgravity experiments <\/strong>and <strong>53 scientific experiments <\/strong>for humanity\u2019s benefit. Investigations ranged from the effects of microgravity, human physiology and plant biology to advanced materials research and AI-supported deep-space technologies. Each study pushed the boundaries of knowledge and also strengthened the case for future space missions.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Education and Inspiration<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Beyond the laboratories, Ax-4 turned the <strong>ISS into a classroom without walls<\/strong>. The astronauts hosted over <strong>20+ educational sessions<\/strong>, connecting with students worldwide and igniting aspirations in the next generation of engineers, scientists, and explorers.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>India\u2019s Strategic Leap<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>ISRO\u2019s participation, <strong>valued at over \u20b9500 crore<\/strong>, was both an investment in technology and a statement of intent. The mission\u2019s findings will feed directly into <strong>Gaganyaan<\/strong>, India\u2019s forthcoming indigenous human spaceflight, anticipated later this decade (most probably in the first quarter of 2027). As Shukla reflected upon his return, it was\u2013<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0\u201c<strong>India\u2019s second orbit, proof that we are ready not just to fly, but to lead<\/strong>.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Significance Beyond the Stars<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Delays caused by launch pad anomalies and ISS maintenance extended the crew\u2019s pre-flight quarantine, making it one of the lengthiest in modern space travel.
