Theme & Event Summary: The Book That Became a Musical – Where Books Sing and Stories Shine
Objective
The Broadway competition aims to promote an appreciation of musical theatre while developing students’ singing, acting, and stage presence. It encourages creativity, expressive storytelling, confidence, and teamwork, while providing a platform for performers to showcase their theatrical skills through engaging and emotive performances.
Competition Norms
- This event is open to participants in the Junior Category.
- This is a team event, with a minimum of six and a maximum of eight participants in each team.
- The performance must be aligned with the theme and should include a brief introduction to the chosen book or story.
- Each performance, including the introduction, must be between five and eight minutes in duration.
- The judicious use of props, costumes, and stage effects will be rewarded with an additional five marks beyond the performance benchmarks. Teams will be responsible for arranging their own props and costumes.
- Teams must ensure that the lyrics of the songs are appropriate for a school event. Participants are requested to refrain from using Bollywood songs.
- Live singing or live musical accompaniment is encouraged; however, pre-recorded music may be used only if live accompaniment is not possible.
- Participants must submit their music tracks and multimedia files to the control room at the time of registration.
