Theme & Event Summary: The Cost of Convenience – Focused Arguments on Consumerism, Waste, and Sustainable Living

Objective

The objective of this competition is to promote awareness of sustainability by encouraging critical thinking, creativity, and meaningful discussion on consumerism, waste disposal, and sustainable living. It also aims to inspire students to propose thoughtful and practical solutions to real-world environmental challenges.

Competition Norms

  • Participation is open to the Junior Category.
  • This competition is open exclusively to individual participants. Group entries will not be permitted.
  • All ideas and solutions presented must be related to sustainability.
  • Plagiarism or copying from published sources is strictly prohibited.
  • For the final presentation, participants must submit their slides in PDF format prior to presenting.

Competition Structure

Round 1 – MCQ Test

Duration: 30 minutes
Number of Questions: 20
Maximum Marks: 20
Format: Multiple Choice Questions

Guidelines

  • Questions will assess participants’ awareness of sustainability, environmental issues, and responsible practices.
  • The use of reference materials, mobile phones, or any electronic devices is strictly prohibited.

Round 2 – Group Discussion

  • Topics will be assigned on the spot.
  • Participants will be given 15 minutes for preparation, followed by 30 minutes for discussion.

Round 3 – Final Presentation

Presentation Requirement:

Each participant must prepare a single-slide presentation addressing a given sustainability-related problem statement. The organisers will provide the necessary devices for the presentation.

Duration:

Each participant will be allotted five minutes for the presentation, followed by a 2–3 minute Question and Answer session.

Format:

The presentation must be delivered individually.

Preparation Time:

A dedicated one-hour planning window will be provided prior to the presentation.
