Théâtre Sans Frontières

Théâtre Sans Frontières

This year, as a new opportunity within the Odyssey Festival, each participating school is invited to nominate one talented senior student to serve as its ambassador and participate in the Theatre Sans Frontières Programme, alongside students from other participating schools.

Over the course of the festival, these ambassadors will work together under the guidance of Mr Chris Walters, an experienced Drama teacher from the United Kingdom. Through this collaborative experience, students will have the opportunity to get to know one another, build friendships that transcend the borders of states and countries, and learn to appreciate each other’s unique talents and perspectives.

Objective

The selected student ambassadors will collaborate in the creation of an original theatrical production, which will be presented during the Odyssey Closing Ceremony. This initiative promises to be an exciting addition to the Odyssey Festival, serving as a collaborative creative project that complements the various competitions taking place during the event.

Programme Participation

The selected ambassadors will be required to attend a series of two-hour workshops conducted throughout the festival. While participation in these workshops may occasionally prevent them from competing in other events with their school teams, they will continue to remain part of their school cohort. They will therefore be able to attend meals, social activities, and support their fellow students whenever they are not required for workshops or rehearsals.

Selection Criteria for School Ambassadors

When selecting an ambassador for this programme, school leaders are encouraged to consider the following criteria:

  • The ambassador may be either a boy or a girl.
  • The student should belong to the Senior Category, ideally between the ages of fifteen and seventeen.
  • The student should be open-minded and willing to embrace new challenges.
  • Ideally, the student should be open to performing, although prior experience or expertise is not mandatory.
  • An additional advantage would be if the student already possesses performance-related skills, such as music, singing, dance, acting, or acrobatics.
