Theme & Event Summary:  Rock Fusion – Blending Rock with Jazz, Classical, Folk, or World Music

Objective

The primary objective of this competition is to provide students with a dynamic platform to perform, express themselves, and showcase their musical talents. It is designed to encourage creativity, teamwork, and confidence, allowing participants to experience the excitement and challenges of performing live on stage.

Through participation, students not only demonstrate their technical skills and musicality but also learn to collaborate effectively with band members, develop strong stage presence, and engage the audience.

Competition Norms

  • This event is open to participants in the Senior Category.
  • The maximum time allowed for stage setup and performance combined is twelve minutes.
  • Each band must consist of a minimum of five and a maximum of seven participants, including one lead singer.
  • Only basic vocal effects, such as reverb and delay, are permitted. Vocal-enhancing or pitch-correcting digital effects are not allowed.
  • The use of keyboards and synthesisers must be performed live by the participants. Pre-recorded tracks or auto-rhythm accompaniments are not permitted
  • The organisers will provide a full Pearl drum kit, including kick drum, snare, hi-hat, high tom, low tom, floor tom, ride cymbal, and two crash cymbals, along with one keyboard amplifier and one guitar amplifier.
  • An ideal band configuration may include lead vocals, lead guitar, rhythm guitar, bass guitar, drums, and optionally a keyboardist. Additional members such as backing vocalists or percussionists may be included depending on the band’s style and genre.
  • Participants must wear attire appropriate to the performance and the spirit of the competition. School uniforms are not permitted.
  • The backdrop will be provided by the organisers. Props are not required.
