Odyssey International 2026: Student Engagement Events
On the second and third day, Odyssey International 2026 turned the spotlight towards a compelling question: how can creativity help us understand, question and reshape the world we live in?
Through literature, theatre, music, and environmental discourse, the days unfolded as a lively exchange of ideas — where stories were reimagined, seasons became metaphors and sustainability moved from a distant concern to a subject of conversation.
‘Recycling of a Story’ (Dramatics), invited students to revisit literary classics through the theme ‘An Adapted Version of a Literary Classic – Retold with a Modern Voice or New Perspective’.
For the young participants of ‘Theatrical Oration’, life itself became the story. Based on the theme ‘Seasons of Life’, the Junior Category competition allowed students to explore the changing seasons as a metaphor for the shifting landscapes of human experience.
There was a distinctly different rhythm to ‘Bebop Boulevard’, where teams of three young musicians came together for a jazz trio performance.
The most thought-provoking segment of the day came through ‘Ecoverse’ — the Literary Sustainability Challenge, where literature met one of the pressing issues: how should we live on a planet of finite resources?
Centred on ‘The Cost of Convenience – Focused Arguments on Consumerism, Waste and Sustainable Living’, the competition invited students to examine everyday choices and their larger consequences across three rounds — a written examination, group discussion and PowerPoint (PPT) presentation.
Participants transformed literary worlds into theatrical experiences, blending acting, expression, music and movement in ‘Rhythm of Renewal (Broadway)’, which was inspired by the evocative theme ‘The Book That Became a Musical – Where Books Sing and Stories Shine’.
Creativity took a strikingly different form in the ‘Sustainable Spatial Narratives (Installation Art)’. Working around the theme ‘A City Reborn from Waste’, students transformed discarded materials into imaginative installations, giving new life to objects that might otherwise have been overlooked.
In ‘Hashtag Chronicles (Social Media Story Challenge)’, students stepped behind the camera and into the role of digital storytellers. Using Instagram- and Facebook-style videos, they captured the many facets of Odyssey International — from memorable moments and guest interactions to behind-the-scenes glimpses that might otherwise remain unseen.
‘Ecopreneurs Mind Tank (Social/Entrepreneurial Innovation)’ saw imagination meet business skills. Students developed business models that brought together entrepreneurship, innovation, teamwork and social responsibility, with solutions designed to address environmental and social needs.
These student engagement events reflected the larger spirit of Odyssey — that literature and the arts are not merely forms of expression; they can also be tools for reflection, dialogue and responsible action.
Odyssey 2026 helped our young ones see the world differently, and inspired them to change it.
