CMS alumni on ladder of success

Siddhartha Gautam, selected in IAS All India Rank 538
Alumnus of CMS Rajajipuram Campus I

Siddharth Gautam exemplifies the spirit of Gautam Buddha who was a seeker of enlightenment and true knowledge. Being completely devoted to studies he has brought name and fame to his alma mater and the Rajajipuram Campus which is full of joy at this selection in the top administrative services of the country-the IAS.

Siddharth himself is feeling highly elated at the moment and wanting to serve his country. Siddharth had studied at CMS Rajajipuram Campus I from Class I to XII between the years 1997 to 2009 and the CMS philosophy of Vasudhaiv Kutumbkam is deeply ingrained in his psyche. A brilliant student, he got around 94% in ICSE and 86% in ISC Board Exams.

His father, Mr Mahesh Chandra Gautam, now happily retired, served as a bank manager and mother, Mrs Meena Gautam, is a homemaker. Among his fondest memories of school life are, “Jagdish Gandhi Sir’s interaction with students.

I still quote sir in many of my interactions, the wisdom which Sir bestowed upon us at such a young age has helped me shape my personality in such a manner. So yes, in hindsight these are some of my best memories.” He is thankful towards the entire faculty of CMS Rajajipuram Campus I and says,” They have not only guided me but have also inspired me to realize my potential. Few teachers who have remained close to my heart and whose guidance I still seek are Deepak Nigam sir, Javin Saxena sir, Yogesh sir, Bindiya mam and Neeru mam.” Siddharth was always confident of his selection in the civil services.

Besides his parents and teachers, his elder brother also motivated him. He never counted the hours whilst studying. Whie studying for the tough IAS Exam, he sacrificed socialization for the sake of his studies and completely focused on his studies. Now he is reaping rich dividends for his sacrifice. Regarding the qualities needed he says, “I think to make your dreams come true it is the sheer hard work and unrelenting perseverance that matters.

Following line by Ray Kroc would help to put the idea into perspective: "Nothing in the world can take place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. "
