On 21st August, renowned educationist, Dr Sohayl Mohajer conducted a seminar on Child Well-Being titled, “An Overview of Emotional and Behavioural Disorders” for the teachers of CMS Indira Nagar Campus. Principal, Mrs Ruchi Bhuwan Joshi warmly welcomed Dr Mohajer at the Campus and the seminar began at 1.30 p.m.
Dr Mohajer explained external and internal behaviour in children with behavioural disorders. He said that those with external disorder were violent and aggressive, those with internal disorder were loners with anxiety and mood disturbances. Both these kinds found it difficult to focus on studies. Emotional and behavioural disorders could be due to heredity, diet, biological causes, home environment or school related factors like bullying and uncaring attitude of teachers. Children with such problems showed anxiety, panic, restlessness, stress and trauma and all these directly or indirectly affected their proper growth and development.
Dr Mohajer said that a child who suffers from emotional and biological disorder is unable to focus on studies, is restless, can never remain quiet and is unable to follow directions. Such disorders are increasing among children.
Teachers need to be vigilant and recognize such disorders and deal with great understanding and love while handling such children. In fact they should replace an authoritarian attitude with love so such children are able to open out and share their problems freely. It was a very informative and interactive session with the teachers of CMS Indira Nagar Campus. Principal, Mrs Ruchi Bhuwan Joshi, thanked Dr Mohajer for enlightening the teachers about the behavioral problems of students. The seminar was concluded at 3.30 pm. on a note of satisfaction and positivity for the future.
