Atul is a self-made man. Coming from a middle class family, his father late Shri Ramanand Sharma was in a government job in UPSEB and his mother, Mrs Meera Sharma, a housewife. He did his schooling from CMS Station Road Campus which he joined in 1990 and in 1995, he passed his Class X Examination with flying colours. Thereafter, he did his Intermediate, (ISC) in 1997 and joined B.Sc with Zoology, Botany and Chemistry. However, his calling was a career in the civil services and with this in mind, he pursued his MA in History from Lucknow University. He went to Delhi after this, to be in the buzz of all the current happenings and prepare for the UPSC Exams in right earnest. His steadfastness of aim and relentless pursuit of the career of his choice bore fruit and when the results of the 2009 batch of aspirants came out, his name figured on the merit list and his All India Ranking was 99.To his delight, he got his home state U.P., as the cadre for IPS (Indian Police Service), making his parents proud of their blue-eyed boy.
Atul says that CMS always provided him the best environment for study and the best inspiration for making the right career choices in life. It helped him form an all-round personality and develop his skills to the maximum. It instilled the confidence that is necessary for success in one’s life.
Further, he speaks of his many memories of school life and is proud of the day he topped in one of the subjects at the inter-campus level and was honoured on stage at the CMS Meritorious Students’ Felicitation Function. CMS taught him to serve society and with no prejudices of caste or colour and today, he is serving his fellowmen as a fine police officer. He is on the post of S. P. Traffic in Lucknow.
Atul’s message to his fellow students and his juniors is, “Study hard. Play well. Be disciplined, be hopeful and have perseverance as it always pays.”
