CMS creates a better future for all children by maximising
their opportunities through quality education and initiatives for unity and development.
Ilika Tripathi is a brilliant ex-student of CMS Gomti Nagar Campus I, who started studying for BA in Economics at Mount Holyoke College in USA in September 2018. She loves her college community which is very supportive. Ilika says the academic structure at her college allows her to fully explore what interests her the most. She recommends this college to other CMS students too because MHC is a highly ranked liberal arts college that is very supportive to international students. It is a women’s only college.
Among those who motivated and inspired her to study abroad, Ilika speaks highly of her Principal at CMS Gomti Nagar Campus I, Mrs Abha Anant. She was also influenced by the CMS Founder, Dr Jagdish Gandhi’s philosophy. She says: “…a powerful influence was Dr Jagdish Gandhi’s philosophy of global education, which gave me the courage to actually attend a college thousands of kilometres away from all I have known.”
For the junior students, Ilika offers the following advice. “Applying to study abroad can often seem confusing because of new terminology and new procedures. However, I encourage you to apply abroad because there’s so much to see and learn in the world out there! Broadening your horizons can often bring you on a path you never knew you wanted to walk but brings you immense satisfaction.”
Clearly Ilika is well on her way to a successful future ahead. We wish her all the best!
January kicked-off the celebrations of CMS's glorious 60th year, with the release of the biography of the Founders of CMS on 15th January. This Diamond Jubilee year of CMS (1959 - 2019) will be celebrated with joy and festivity throughout the calendar year 2019, to appreciate the amazing services of CMS to the children of Lucknow.
January brought several pieces of good news at CMS, which I am glad to share with you. Eighteen students from across five senior CMS campuses were short-listed for Round-2 of the highly competitive Government of India scholarship exam, the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojna (KVPY), a very pleasing result indeed!
Five CMS teachers did exceptionally well in the national CENTA Teachers' Professional Olympiad (TPO) held in December 2018. The TPO was held in about 10,000 schools at 50 centres in India. Out of the 79 teachers from eight CMS campuses that sat the TPO, five CMS teachers secured the top 500 national ranks, with Mrs. Shan Ara Khan of CMS Cambridge Section securing the 44th rank nationally (top 0.3%) - a phenomenal achievement!
Eyes are fixed now on the imminent examinations and it is important that children get a calm, quiet, distraction-free environment at home, and that they strike a balance between studies and physical activity, through frequent breaks in between exam-preparation. Nutritious high-fibre non-fried and low-sugar food will also promote good health and greater mental concentration. Here's wishing pupils the very best for their exams!
Eighteen CMS students have qualified in the KVPY Aptitude Test held on 4 November 2018 and short-listed for the interview to be held in February for Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojna Scholarship. This fellowship of Rs. 4,64,000/- is given to the selected students during the five years of their higher studies. This fellowship scheme is a very enterprising project of the Government of India to encourage the undergraduate students to move ahead for a research career and it is coordinated by Indian Science Centre, Bengaluru. Following are the students:
