In this poetry performance competition, participants are invited to breathe life into poems of any era or style, with one important requirement—the theme must be TRADITION. Through expressive enactment, participants will be judged on how well they convey the emotion and meaning of their chosen poem.
Performance Guidelines
Participants are encouraged to use a variety of theatrical techniques to enhance their recitation, including:
- Voice Modulation: Adjust your tone, pitch, and pace to reflect the mood and meaning of the poem.
- Facial Expressions: Use expressive facial movements to convey the poem’s emotions and themes.
- Body Language: Engage your whole body in the performance to bring the poem to life.
- Theatrical Expression: Combine all forms of dramatic expression to deepen the impact of your performance.
Props and Costumes
Participants are permitted to use props and costumes to enhance their presentation. However, these elements should complement rather than distract from the core message of the poem. The focus should remain on the powerful delivery of the words.
Time Limit
The total performance time, including any prop setup, is 3 minutes. Participants must manage their time effectively to ensure a smooth and engaging presentation within the time frame.
Group Category
This competition is open to Group C participants, and it provides an excellent opportunity to demonstrate both theatrical skills and an understanding of tradition through poetry.
