At City Montessori School, Indira Nagar-II, United World Building, we are passionate about shaping our students into responsible global citizens. A key part of this mission is fostering Environmental Awareness and teaching students about climate change. Through a variety of fun and engaging activities, we encourage students to actively participate in protecting our planet, helping them understand the important role they can play in preserving the environment for future generations.
A Week of Nature’s Celebration: Van Mahotsav
Van Mahotsav Week was a time when our campus came alive with environmental activities. During this week, we organized events that helped students develop a deep appreciation for nature and its delicate balance. Students took part in quizzes, nature walks, and tree plantation drives, making the week both fun and educational.
The inter-house quiz competition brought out some healthy competition, with students testing their knowledge of Environmental Awareness and environmental issues. It was inspiring to see how passionate they were about learning the facts behind deforestation, climate change, and sustainability. The nature walk was another highlight, where students got to connect directly with nature. As they explored the greenery around them, they learned about the importance of trees, plants, and biodiversity in keeping our environment healthy and balanced.
Wildlife Week: Honouring Earth’s Biodiversity
During Wildlife Week, our school celebrated the beauty and diversity of the animal kingdom. Students dressed up as their favourite animals and participated in a Fancy-Dress Competition, hosted by the Lucknow Zoo. This event was not only fun but also educational, as it helped students appreciate the role animals play in our ecosystems.
In addition to the dress-up event, we also held workshops and presentations where students learned about endangered species, habitat destruction, and the impact human activity has on wildlife. These sessions taught students the importance of protecting animals and their habitats. We also discussed how pollution, illegal hunting, and deforestation are contributing to the endangerment of many species. It was heartening to see how many students left the week feeling motivated to act and be more involved in wildlife conservation efforts. Do you know about UN-SDGs
Celebrating the Ozone Layer: A Global Responsibility
International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer was observed with a special assembly to emphasize how crucial the ozone layer is in protecting Earth from harmful UV rays. Students were taught about the causes of ozone depletion, such as the use of CFCs in household products, and the steps being taken around the world to heal the ozone layer.
As part of this observance, students created informative posters and displayed them throughout the school to help raise awareness among their peers. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of taking care of our atmosphere and using eco-friendly products to prevent further harm. Students also took the pledge to reduce the use of harmful chemicals and opt for more sustainable products to protect the ozone layer.
Save the Earth Olympiad: A Platform for Young Environmentalists
The Save the Earth Olympiad gave our students the chance to showcase their knowledge of Environmental Awareness in an exciting and competitive way. The written test focused on topics like climate change, pollution, and conservation. It pushed students to think critically about the environment and explore practical solutions to some of the world’s most pressing environmental challenges.
The Olympiad was not only about taking a test; it was about sparking creativity and inspiring students to come up with real-world solutions to reduce waste, conserve water, and protect natural resources. The students who participated came away with a deeper understanding of how important it is to live sustainably and how small changes can have a big impact on the planet.

Through these initiatives for our environment, we aim to create a generation of environmentally conscious individuals who care deeply about the world around them. By fostering a love for nature, promoting sustainable practices, and empowering students to act, we are helping shape a brighter future for our planet. As we continue to explore new ways to educate our students and raise Environmental Awareness, we remain committed to making our school a place where both education and action come together to protect the Earth.
Our efforts do not stop here. We are excited to introduce more initiatives in the future, such as a campus-wide recycling program and projects to reduce energy consumption. These initiatives will help our students understand the value of living sustainably and contribute to a greener, cleaner world.
