Opening Session of the 26<\/b>th<\/sup> <\/b>International Conference of Chief Justices of the World at the India International Centre, New Delhi: <\/b>Article 51 in Focus<\/i><\/b><\/h2>\n

\"Opening<\/p>\n

The opening session of the <\/span>26<\/b>th<\/sup><\/b> International Conference of Chief Justices of the World <\/b>was held on <\/span>19th<\/sup><\/b>\u00a0November 2025<\/b> at the<\/span> India International Centre (IIC), New Delhi, <\/b>where thought-provoking perspectives shaped the intellectual landscape of the day. Shri Om Birla, <\/b><\/span>Honourable Speaker Lok Sabha <\/b>presided as the<\/span> Chief Guest <\/b>at the opening session. He delivered an incisive keynote address on the urgent need for inclusive global cooperation. <\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Shri Birla stated that in the rapidly changing global landscape, the need to reorganise the structure of the United Nations in accordance with contemporary challenges is relevant even today. India\u2019s philosophy of <\/span>Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam<\/span><\/i> and the constitutional ideals of peace, harmony, and respect reinforce our global commitment. He added that this international conference, organised by CMS, is highly relevant for fostering a <\/span>‘harmonious future’ <\/b>and ensuring a bright future for the coming generations.<\/span><\/p>\n

Marking his presence as a Guest of Honour, <\/span>Dr Sudhanshu Trivedi,<\/b> Member of Rajya Sabha and Spokesperson of the Bhartiya Janta Party, reflected on India\u2019s growing global stature and philosophical heritage. He remarked that the recently hosted G-20 Summit by India also echoed the sentiment of <\/span>Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n

A Solemn Beginning at Rajghat<\/b><\/h2>\n

The day began with a heartfelt tribute at <\/span>Rajghat<\/i><\/b>, where CMS Manager, Prof. Geeta Gandhi Kingdon and CMS President, Dr Roger Kingdon, alongside the Chief Justices, Judges, Heads of States, and global dignitaries from over 51 countries, paid homage at the <\/span>Samadhi Sthal of Mahatma Gandhi<\/i><\/b>. The serene morning at Rajghat set the tone for a conference rooted in Gandhian ideals of non-violence, harmony, and universal brotherhood.<\/span><\/p>\n

Global Voices at the Opening Panel Discussion<\/b><\/h2>\n

The first thematic panel explored the <\/span>relevance of Article 51 in reforming international institutions and strengthening global justice mechanisms<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

    The session was moderated by world-renowned academician <\/span>Dr Augusto L\u00f3pez-Claros (USA)<\/b>, who highlighted the pressing need for global solidarity.<\/span><\/p>\n

    High Tea at Rashtrapati Bhavan Followed by an Evening of Harmony at the Lotus Temple<\/b><\/h3>\n

    In an exceptional gesture of honour, the international delegates were received at Rashtrapati Bhavan for high tea. The interaction provided an intimate environment for jurists, policy thinkers, and leaders to exchange views on global governance and India\u2019s constitutional ethos.<\/span><\/p>\n

    The delegates later proceeded to the iconic Lotus Temple, where a grand reception and dinner were hosted in their honour. The sacred ambience of the temple, symbolising unity, purity, and universal faith, perfectly complemented the conference\u2019s mission.<\/span><\/p>\n

    Honourable Ms Shobha Karandlaje, Minister of State for Labour & Employment and MSME<\/b>, graced the gathering and engaged in thoughtful dialogue with the visiting dignitaries.<\/span><\/p>\n
