Objective

‘Tal Tarang’ is a celebration of India’s rich classical music heritage, inviting talented musicians from across the country to showcase their mastery of traditional Indian instruments. Whether it is the soulful strains of the sitar or the intricate ‘taal’ of the ‘tabla’, this competition is a tribute to the timeless beauty of Indian classical music.

Theme: Prakriti ke Sur (Melodies of Nature)

Insightful Attention

  • The participants are invited to showcase their talent in Indian Classical Instrumental Music through solo performances.
  • The competition is open to students across different age groups, who may perform on any approved Indian classical instruments such as the ‘Sitar’, ‘Veena’, ‘Bansuri’, ‘Sarod’, ‘Tabla’, ‘Santoor’, ‘Shehnai’, ‘Harmonium’ or ‘Mridangam’. The age criteria will conform to the general guidelines of the musical conference.
  • No recorded background music and auto rhythm is allowed.
  • Each performance must be within the specified time limit of 5 – 8 minutes.
  • The participants must briefly introduce the raga or piece that they will be presenting.
  • The participants must carry their own instrument.
  • The use of electronic ‘tanpura’ or one live accompaniment (such as ‘tabla’ or ‘mridangam’) is permitted, but all instruments and accompaniments must be arranged by the participants themselves.
  • Performers are encouraged to wear traditional Indian attire to enhance the cultural aesthetic.
