CITY MONTESSORI SCHOOL
City Montessori School, a name synonymous with quality education, is the world’s largest school, with over 65,000 students and 4,500 staff spread across 21 campuses in the city of Lucknow. CMS places great emphasis on the all-round development of children, moral character building, inculcating a global outlook and providing international exposure. At CMS, we believe that education for the 21st Century must be both broader and bolder. A ‘good’ education must produce much more: a ‘good’ human being with a broad range of capabilities.
The school believes that children who learn music develop a greater capacity for absorbing knowledge and have better learning outcomes, in studies, co-curricular activities and sports. Children are imparted high quality training in notated music and Indian music. It has been working in collaboration with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) and India National Youth Orchestra and Chorus to create an appreciation for music amongst its students. This commitment is reflected in the vibrant culture of learning embraced by students, teachers and staff alike. The school has reached an extraordinary milestone, surpassing approximately 600 registrations in its music programs, a testament to its dedication and passion for nurturing musical talent. A training in music also trains one to appreciate nuance, detail, refinement, perfection, symmetry, balance, coordination, aesthetic sense, perspective and depth and as such, one could say that training in music is preparation for success in all walks of life.

Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM)

The mission of ABRSM is to inspire musical accomplishment. It is ensured by supporting the teaching and learning of music in partnership with four Royal Schools of Music in the UK: the Royal Academy of Music, Royal College of Music, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and Royal Northern College of Music. It was founded in 1889, which is the UK’s largest music educational organisation. It is one of the leading music publishers that promotes and advances music and is a world leader in the conduction of music assessments.
Annually, a team of 700 examiners conduct over 600,000 assessments in more than 90 countries. Its mission revolves around empowering individuals on their musical journeys by equipping them with the necessary resources to teach, learn, create and savour the joy of music. It offers structure and guidance to music teachers and learners all over the world, through its high-quality music examinations, books, apps and resources.
EUPHONIC CONVERGENCE
Music education in schools opens a portal to a vibrant tapestry of learning, weaving together threads of intellect, emotion and cultural understanding. It is a symphony of growth, where each note played resonates far beyond the classroom walls.
Studying music in school is crucial for a well-rounded education and personal development. Music education enhances cognitive abilities, improves memory and concentration and fosters creativity. It also teaches discipline, teamwork and self-expression, skills that are valuable in all aspects of life. Music can be a powerful emotional outlet, reducing stress and anxiety while boosting self-confidence. Furthermore, exposure to music from various cultures promotes cultural awareness and appreciation for diversity.

City Montessori School in association with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), has made significant changes in students’ lives by providing structured, high-quality music education. This partnership has expanded access to formal music training, offering internationally recognized qualifications that can open doors to higher education and professional opportunities in the field of music. Through standardised curricula and assessments, ABRSM has helped maintain consistent educational standards, enabling students to benchmark their progress against global metrics. This collaboration has introduced students to a wide range of musical genres and techniques, broadening their musical horizons and inspiring lifelong appreciation for this art form. Additionally, the rigorous training and examination process has instilled a sense of achievement and boosted self-esteem in many students, positively impacting their overall academic performance and personal growth.
